First time for everything

T-shirt: Alternative Apparel
Cardigan: The Limited
Jeans: Forever 21
Flats: Target
Bracelet: via jewelery swap with Frances Joy

This may look like a normal outfit, but it's actually a "first" of sorts. You see, it's my first time wearing skinny jeans WITHOUT tucking them into boots. Well, okay, that's kind of a lie. I tried it one other time, maybe two, but I completely hated the results before. I think I just didn't wear the right shoes or have the right skinny jeans. So this is my first time actually liking myself wearing skinny jeans. I'm kind of slow to jump on the bandwagon... it's taken me THIS long to finally embrace them.

Second, it's my first time wearing flats in the winter months. I usually put away all my flats until the spring, and survive the cold weather months in boots or sneakers... I absolutely HATE not wearing socks and having the top of my foot exposed to the elements. But I sucked it up.

Third, this is my very first super cute statement cuff/bracelet thing (that you can't really see at all). Maybe it's not technically that statement-y, but it is for me. I'm scared to death of loud jewelery, and own very few pieces of jewelery in general. This cuff is totally out of my normal comfort zone, but I've been itching for a reason to wear it, and what's better than a vanilla outfit? :)

And about this rusty wall, it's not actually a wall, it's this:

I walked on over to the Olympic Sculpture Park during my lunch break. I guess this is kind of like a tour of Seattle on my blog! Well, don't get your hopes up. I'm too scared to take self-timer pictures in more people-filled touristy places like Pike Place Market... I like my camera too much to risk it getting stolen by a hobo.

PS. Please ignore my one-sleeve-up-one-sleeve-down thing that I have going on. And my squinty eyes. Blame it on the sun... or my genes, whatever.

  1. I really love this outfit - you look totally put together without really trying.

I'm totally with you on the skinny jean thing. Until this challenge I'd never worn them with anything but boots but now I'm LOVING it and I even wore them with on converse the other day (on a non 30 outfit).

  2. you look so good in skinny jeans!! you should definitely wear them more often. and i love the cardigan that you added. totally accentuates your figure and i love the bow in the front. and i was very wary of the statement jewelry trend as i thought it wouldn't work on my petite frame, but after seeing it on so many petites, i ended up really liking it!

  5. I used to only wear skinnies with boots too! For some reason I never thought they were flattering, but now those are all I wear! You definitely look cute in them:) And that backdrop is really awesome! I need to venture out in my city too and find more cool places to take pics.

  6. I used to be the exact same way about skinny jeans! Now, I love wearing them with flats, although I can't seem to wear them without cuffing the bottom. It just looks strange to me to have bunches of fabric at the ankles.

You are making me miss Seattle so much. I remember when I first moved to the city, the Olympic Sculpture Park was one of my first touristy stops. I even too advantage of the free tour guide who talked about the history behind all the pieces.

I guess I'll just have to relive the moments through your photos! :)

  7. I could meet you at the market and take pics, except 1) Is that creepy? Do people prefer to keep their virtual blog lives separate from their real lives? 2) If you judge by the pics on my blog and the fact that an anonymous commentor suggested I get a new camera, you might pass and 3) I might make like a hobo and run off with your camera because of what I mentioned in #2.

You crack me up: "Blame it on . . . my genes, whatever."

  8. These jeans look great on you. I almost said "genes" instead of jeans. Ha! Did you need to hem the F21 jeans up? Or are you lucky and tall enough?

  12. Awww you are so cute but don't be so hard on yourself, you look adorable. I have been wearing skinny jeans for the past 3 years now, even colored ones like red, gray and purple rather than the usual black and blue and one of my most favorite ways to wear them is pairing them with a cute ballet flat like you've done here.
