I look up to the sky, and now the world is mine

Sweater: Target
Tank underneath: AE
Jeans: AG (Hand-me-downs)
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: Forever 21

It was really bright and sunny today, but freezing as well. There was a little bit of snowfall yesterday, and everything froze overnight, but the sun was out this morning and burning off the frost. I tried to take some pictures with the glistening frosty shrubs, but they didn't turn out so well, and left my boots all muddy from trekking through mushy grass. EWW.

These pictures were taken at the Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island (where Joel McHale went to high school and home to Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft), which is somewhat on the way to work. I've only been to the park once before for a friend's wedding last summer, and loved how beautiful it was. Don't be surprised if you see more photos from here in the future!

I am not one for bold jewelery, so this necklace is kind of a big deal for me... but I am totally in love with it! I knew it'd go perfectly with an otherwise boring outfit.. since I dressed more for warmth than appearance today.

Oh, and I followed Tiffany's hair curling tutorial this morning. I never realized there were so many different ways to curl one's hair... and each way results in a totally different look. I finally feel like I know how to curl my hair now. :)

PS. I tried some tips from Sydney's adorable posing video, and I still look awkward.. and felt even awkwarder.

  1. We did our family pics here! LOVE that park. When I was pregnant with Griff, we would take Michael there and explore for HOURS.

Great necklace - and you know how I feel about turqouise and orange ;)

  2. oh, I like the orange with the blue! Also, I watched Sydney's video last night (I wasn't planning on it, but she said it was awkward and I like awkward) so today when I was taking my pictures I realized I was subconsciously doing Sydney poses...which are not the same as Ashley poses!

  3. Really love the boots and the necklace. Lately, every necklace I love on a blog is from Forever 21! In 2011 I am raiding their jewelry department!

  4. Hi Kimmie! This is such a happy outfit, the blue and orange are such a cherry combination. I recently got a coral necklace and have been trying to pair it with other bright colors as well. Definitely more versatile than I thought.

The curls turned out really well. You have such pretty, healthy looking hair!

  5. Looks like summertime! Love that pop of orange with the light blue. Your pose in the third pic is too cute!

Isn't it cool how successful Joel McHale has gotten? I think Rainn Wilson was from MI, too?

  6. Ok I don't know what it is about this outfit, but I am adoring it! Maybe it's the color combo, maybe it's the tiny bit of lace peeking through, or maybe it's just that everything fits you so perfectly. Anyway, it's 5-star. ;)

I'm not a bold jewelry kind of girl either, so I know what you mean! But it looks great!
