She wears high heels, I wear sneakers...

Dress: Target
Cardigan: Target
Belt: Romy
Shoes: Sofft

I'm one of those girls who walks funny in heels. Most of the time, it's because I'm just not used to it, but more often than not, it's because my feet are killing me. I thought that it was because my heels were all cheap and maybe that's why they're not comfortable, so I went out and bought super comfy old lady brand heels that aren't even that high, and they STILL hurt after awhile. Maybe because I stood on my feet for 2 hours today, and I was exhausted after yelling at rowdy 2nd and 3rd graders to pay attention during Sunday School. I only have like 13 or 14 kids in my class, but they're quite a handful. I don't know how all you full-time teachers do it.

I want to wear heels more often, since it totally makes a huge difference and turns a boring outfit into a polished and put-together outfit. I think I'll plan to have one of my new year's resolutions be that I want to wear heels at least once a week. We'll start from there, and see how it goes. I might need a few new pairs of heels first. :) Anyone have any recommendations for cute, not TOO tall, comfortable heels? I think I want something similar to Kendi's red suede pumps from UO.. but not sure if I like the heel on that particular pair.

So here's a little bit about me: I have no life. Really, my life is pretty boring. When I'm not working, I'm spending as much time as I can with my son. The only free time I have is when he's sleeping, but then it's not like I can go out partying or whatever, since I'm usually the main caretaker for bedtime. That means I don't get to see my friends very much, and I'm probably the worst kind of friend there is.. you know, the kind who gets married and has a kid, then drops off the face of the earth. Of course there's moms out there that can work full time AND spend time with their kid AND have an active social life, but that's just not me. So why am I telling you all this? Because I'm reading everyone else's weekend posts that are all like "oh, we went here and there and ate at this fancy restaurant and then had drinks at this fancy place..." and I'm all like "uh, I ate leftovers for dinner, and the highlight of my weekend was getting our leaky sink fixed" (okay, technically not the highlight of my weekend, but I'm glad we can finally use the sink again. YAY!) so yeah, I hope you enjoy my fun-filled blog of super exciting adventures in sorting laundry and eating cookies!

  1. I love this outfit! Especially the belt.

I have a hard time finding comfy heels also. I have one pair of Indigo by Clarks heels, and they're pretty comfy on my feet even on long days! They don't make my arches hurt like most heels usually do.

p.s. Love your post title. :)

  2. Kimmie, i love when your hair is wavy and your outfit is super cute. it is definitely not dress weather in Toronto anymore. I'm jealous!

I'll definitely enjoy your weekend adventures filled with laundry and cookies! I'm not married, don't have a child, and I definitely spent this past weekend eating way too many cookies for my own good. You also reminded me that I need to do laundry!

  3. i love the combo of fancy belt and ruffles. so cute! and i totally feel you on the whole heels thing. i have a wide forefoot, a high arch (like, ridiculously high), and skinny heels. which mean that, as a shoe addict, my life is sad and everything highheeled is not for me. either they pinch my toes or my heels lift out of the back and make it impossible for me to walk without falling over.

if i lived in seattle i would come and eat leftovers and watch the sink drip with you :)

  4. hehe, I feel like my life is boring, too - this weekend I woke up at 9, laid on the couch watching The Devil Wears Prada, went to work, knitted, woke up on Sunday, went to work, went home, went to bed. BORING.

And I like your outfit...and I'm also never comfortable in heels...but I sit basically all day at work, so I deal with it!

  5. I love your outfit! I want to wear heels more often too but I work from home so I often feel like what's the point! Maybe I should just start strutting around my apt in them.

P.S. Stop by my blog for a giveaway and exclusive coupon code!

  6. I recently purchased those UO pumps in black and they are AMAZING. The heel isn't too high, and they are really comfortable. And they are a great price! I'm pretty sure they come in a fab mustard yellow color. A little too risky for me but I think they would look cute on you!
And I'm glad your blog is "boring." It makes me feel better about my life being fairly dull :)

  7. Oh Kimmie, I certainly am not one of those people who go on crazy adventures during the weekend. I just like to stay home and spend some quality time with my family (and by that I mean watching tv and eating popcorn). I think it's awesome that you're such a devoted mother. My mom always said to me, when you become a mother, your child comes first, no matter what. I think you do exactly that! And I think it's adorable. :)

  8. Psssst....everyone is secretly convinced that their life is pretty boring. Its true. At least you manage to look completely adorable while being the most awesomely devoted mom ever.

OOh, here's something exciting...I tagged you for 7 things....check the details in my latest posting!

  9. I cannot wear heels, either. I was SO proud of myself when I actually stayed in my high heeled booties for the ENTIRE party I went to on Saturday night. I mean, I wore those things from 7 until 3 a.m.!

My life is terribly boring, too. I do the same things as you do... you make it look more fun, though!

    xoxo - K

  10. Love the outfit. And about your life being "boring", who's to say that??? Sometimes the girls out partying are secretly wishing for quiet evenings full of simple joys such as yours :)

  11. hi kimmie! thank you for all the kind words, you are so sweet! your blog is really adorable, i love the colors and it's so organized. and you are probably one of the most fashionable mommys i've seen ;) you and your little baby are so cute together! anyway, it's lovely to know another blogger from seattle and especially have so many mutual friends, stay in touch! :)

  12. You look so cute! I wear high heels and sneakers!

  13. You are too pretty!! I'm totally going to copy your outfit- love!!

  14. This outfit is so pretty! I think I'm doomed--I hole up at home a lot and I don't even have kids yet!

  15. What a lovely look! I have this same dress in black and I am obsessed with it!

  16. Oh that belt!! It's ornate and wonderful!

  17. Hahha funny post but I feel you about not going out much. I have been married for 5 years now and 2 out of those years I was still very much a full-time college student as well as a full-time worker though my husband and I had 1-2 date nights in fancy restaurants, weekly. Then, our finances got worse and over a year ago I picked an extra job or two on the side and I worked A TON, so now we don't have much time to go out, though we can afford to every now and then. I do get to make dates with my girlfriends every now and then though, for lunch, coffee or drinks and those are the highlights of my week when it happens. And see I don't even have a kid (yet).

Now, on to this outfit, I am absolutely loving it, your best outfit yet, old-lady pumps and all. These kind of pumps look great with dark tights like you have done. That belt is super cute and I love your casual chambray dress. Just like a mustard-colored cardigan, I need to add a Chambray dress or two to my wardrobe for this coming spring/summer. =)

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. It means the world to me! :)
