These boots weren't made for walking

Shirt: Banana Republic
Skirt: Old Navy
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: Target

This is from last week, when it was pouring outside, and I was SO close to giving up on trying to take an outfit picture.. but I decided to suck it up and scouted out a dry location. But only because I really liked my outfit.

I tried out Kyla's wavy hair tutorial in the morning, and it looked really cute when I left the house, but all the humidity and rain kind of ruined it. So sad. I've since learned that my curls hold MUCH better if I don't use conditioner... so my hair has been kind of looking like a rats nest out of the shower. But so very worth it when my curls hold all day. :)

So, I was walking around in the rain looking for somewhere to take my pictures, and my heels started feeling kind of wet. I thought maybe the shoe had become detached from the sole, and would just need a trip to cobbler, but I looked down and this is what I saw on both heels. I should probably throw them out, but I wear them like every other day and I haven't even had them for a full year.. so I'm going to keep them for non-rainy days... or until I find a replacement pair.

Oh and the shirt? I really wanted a chambray or light denim shirt after seeing it on every other fashion blogger, and I finally found one at the Banana outlet, on clearance! But I was shopping with my sister (who doesn't read fashion blogs) and she was like, "um.. that looks like it's from the 90s. I have this blue button-up that looks similar but cooler, and I never wore it. Do you want it?"  Soooo... it's not exactly chambray, but it's super cute AND it was free. Having a sister is awesome.

PS. I've had a formspring account for a long time, just because it's so much easier to keep track of the people I follow... but I hadn't really linked it to from here. I randomly saw a question in my account the other day, so decided to open it up to you guys if you have any questions. I have no idea why anyone would be interested in my life, but feel free to ask me (almost) anything!

PPS. This is what I really looked like that day. It was pouring rain and freezing. Not very cute.

  1. Your hair looks gorgeous! I love the slight wave in it - it's stylish but doesn't look like you tried too hard. Love.

A chambray shirt has been on my wishlist forever. Currently scouting for the perfect one but haven't found it yet.

And I love that photo of you all bundled up under your umbrella. Too cute!

  5. I have those exact same boots! In fact that happened to my first pair in the first month I had them so I exchanged them, then it happened to my second pair by the end of winter. I wear mine all the time too and I had started suffering through the wet heel but you don't have to at all!

I brought mine to a shoe repair place and they put and new heel and sole on and added a patch in the shape of the heel detailing... I totally sound like an advertisement or something but I felt I needed to let you know! I'll post a pic of my fixed up heel (i actually have a before pic too..) so you can see what I mean. It cost me $45 so saved me over 100 on a new pair! Hope this will help you too!

  10. Aw man, that is such a bummer about your boots! It's pretty devastating to have staid pieces go under :/

You look adorable anyway, though, even in the ugly weather conditions !!

  11. Ug, I have the same prob with my black SM boots. Why, Steve, must you make the cutest black boots that FALL APART?!?

I love your ON skirt (I think you have it in multiple colors). It's the one they had this fall, right? I really wanted it except it looked SO short. It looks normal length on you, though... hmmm.

  12. @Elle- My hair is naturally poofy. Not straight, not wavy, not curly, but just plain poofy. It sucks.

@Andrea- I KNOW, RIGHT? Ugh. and yes, I have the skirt in both black and the corduroy... I think I saw purple too, and I'm kind of sad I didn't buy it, because I LOVE mine SO MUCH. I like my skirts a little loose so they sit lower on my hips, which is probably why they're longer!

  13. Your scarf/umbrella combination are so adorably cheery, I love it :) Any chance you remember where the belt came from? I'm trying to branch out from my plain black/brown belt options, so I'm always on the look-out for cute alternatives.

  14. I love this look. It's so simple but so chic. The denium button up paired with that belt is my favorite part.
