[30 for 30: Outfit 12]
Lace shirt: Nordstrom Rack
Skirt: Old Navy
Belt: Nordstrom BP
Boots: Indigo by Clarks
I've been wanting a lace shirt for the longest time, so when I saw this shirt at Nordstrom Rack, it was perfect. It had really cute puff sleeves and an awesome exposed zipper in the back (see a better shot of it here), so I added it to my 30 for 30 pile before actually attempting to wear it.
When I finally decided to bust it out, I realized how hard it was to wear. You can't tell in the picture very well, but it's lace all over, except for a satin trimmed neck, which is about an inch thick all around the collar, which is cute, but makes layering super difficult. Since I obviously need to pair something under the lace, it has to be a crew neck shirt underneath or else there will be this weird gap between the bottom of the collar and above the top of the undershirt. I think a nude color cami or shell would have been perfect, but since I don't own either of those things and I can't really go out and buy one right now, it had to be something that I currently have in my closet, and a black crew-neck t-shirt with pinned-in sleeves was the closest thing I could find to look good under there (I seriously tried on EVERY single shirt I owned under there and they just didn't work).
We had some pretty strong winds last night, and my husband is going to hate me for posting this picture of me on our driveway with debris all over. He is pretty particular about having our driveway look nice and clean, and the next day after a windstorm you can guarantee he's going to sweep/leaf-blow the driveway. But no, I had to take my outfit picture this morning before he swept it all up (it's clean now, just a few hours later) so this is a picture of what our driveway doesn't usually look like.

Love the lace top! It looks so effortlessly put together that I never would have guessed you went through all of that to find the right undershirt.
ReplyDeleteYou're the queen of cute skirts, Kimmie. So jealous!
Super cute! I love the color of that skirt. I can't believe it is old navy. Great boots too.

The layering problem sounds annoying but I think your efforts paid off! The lace shirt looks great on you and the color of the skirt is fantastic. I dunno if you watch Glee, but this outfit is like a fashion child of Rachel and Tina.
ReplyDeleteI love the lacy shirt! I got one at Macys the other day and it is crazzzzy itchy! I am very tempted to return it, but it's just so darn cute and only $5! The "perfect" lace shirt is somewhere out there with our names on it.

but you look lovely in the lace top! i want one too and haven't gotten around to finding one but you are rocking it. :)
ReplyDeletelove the skirt and boots too!
Great outfit, it's feminine and edgy! You look great.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning! I love the pop of color in the skirt! You did a great job styling the shirt, I can't wait to see how you wear it once the 30 for 30 is over. :)
ReplyDeleteOk I NEVER would've noticed the driveway if you hadn't said something. That outfit is too pretty. I have a skirt the same color in my 30 and I may just have to try it with all black like you have here!
ReplyDeleteNot going to lie, I just snort laughed at the title of this post :)
ReplyDeleteI love the shirt and skirt together. You look great! And I've decided that pretty colored skirts are most definitely on my shopping list once I can get back to the business of shopping.
Would a black tank work under the shirt? I have a similar lace shirt that I wear with a black spaghetti strap tank. It's still tasteful because all of your assets are still covered ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the purple on you! Great color for you, my dear!
OMG where do you live?! That's a HUMONGOUS driveway!
ReplyDeleteI think the outfit looks great as is, maybe next time you can do close-ups so we can see more detailing in the clothing!
I have a couple items in my 30 for 30 that I'm having a hard time figuring out how to wear, too. But this lace shirt looks so beautiful on you! I really love it. I think the debris in the driveway adds an artistic touch to the photo ;) haha.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have guess that the lace shirt was so hard to wear. It definitely looks great.

Very cute ensemble. I have been wanting a dark berry skirt for the longest time!
ReplyDeleteOur yard still looks like that. In fact I still think there's branches from the wind storm before hanging out here. Luckily, our yard kind of has that "wild" look so we're not being too tacky. Hehe.
ReplyDeleteThe shirt LOOKS effortless. You look great.

Well you certainly look all put together! I've been wanting a lace top too - I'll have to consider the trouble you went through when looking for one ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I tried out your tutorial for the recap photo sidebar. Thanks!!!!
ReplyDeletethis outfit is so incredible! I love the color of that skirt and those sleeves rock. That sucks that it's so hard to wear, but maybe wearing it under a dress or something would be nice?
ReplyDeleteHahaha you're so cute and funny, don't worry about the driveway dear. YOU LOOK SUPER CUTE HERE, ADORABLE SKIRT. One of your best in 30 for 30.
