Disqusified
I have been going back and forth between deciding whether or not to install the Disqus commenting system. On one hand, it really annoys me when Disqus doesn't load properly on blogs that I visit and I have to refresh the page a few times (seems to happen pretty frequently), or doesn't load at all... but on the other hand, I hate how Blogger doesn't let you respond to comments.. like, if someone asks a question, I never know what to do. Should I email the person back? Or should I go comment on their blog? Or should I respond within the comments, even though I doubt they're going to come back to read it? What if someone else has the same question and they wouldn't know my answer because I sent the first person an email?
After some urging from my friends, I decided to take the plunge and install Disqus yesterday. If you don't have a Disqus account, I highly urge you to sign up for an account, it makes commenting on Disqus-enabled blogs so much easier!

Yes! I wish everyone would switch to Disqus and do away with captcha...
ReplyDeleteThat necklace looks great with your outfit, very cute!
I was thinking about that too. I don't get a lot of questions on my blog so I am OK for now. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. P.S: Pretty cool background for blog photos :)
ReplyDeleteI love the location for your photos today! Very unique. And your cardigan is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI've also been wondering the same thing!
I think it works much better than the regular blogger commenting system. Especially that you can reply/like responses. It's a bit more interactive.
Do you ever not look totally adorable?
ReplyDeleteI have the same issues with blogger commenting system. I hate how you can't respond to comments which seems like it would be something fairly simple to implement.
I've been pondering this for the last few days, too, as I hate not being able to comment back. I think I decided to take the leap to disqus yesterday. My readers don't know how much I appreciate their comments, and that's sad. Commenting on their blogs (if I don't read them anyhow) is too time-consuming right now, so it's not an option. And I find emailing about little comments to be "too serious", I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI personally never had problems with Disqus as a commenter. Thanks for sharing your opinion on it, it reaffirmed my decision (and what's not to love about that? ^^)!
Relatable Style
Ha! I'm totally about to ask a question. So you can respond to each individual commenter - does it email any responses to the original commenter? Or does the original commenter have to return and check?
ReplyDeleteJenn
P.S. I really like what you're wearing.
I'm considering it too. I usually just respond to questions via e-mail but then I end up getting a couple other people who have the same question but don't know the answer. So I'll post the answer in the comments AND e-mail the person. And that's kind of annoying.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the oxfords. I need some.

I'm still on the fence... Where the heck are you in these photos??? so cute!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is adorable! I have had very few, if any issues with Disqus. Welcome to the dark side!! [insert deep Darth Vader breathing]

I'm at the Olympic sculpture park :)
ReplyDeleteI know! That's exactly why I switched. DO IT. Come on! Join the disqus club ;)
ReplyDeleteI know! That's exactly why I switched. DO IT. Come on! Join the disqus club ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah! It leaves a comment but the emails the original commenter too :) also if someone else was to respond to your comment, you'd also get an email
ReplyDeleteExactly!! I feel the exact same way!
ReplyDeleteHah! Just go back a couple posts to see my not-so-adorable photos :)
ReplyDeleteI know, I've been waiting and waiting for blogger to update heir commenting system but they haven't done anything! :(
this is so cute! and that location is so cool! I do love disqus. Sometimes it does funky things, but its just so nice to have threaded comments and i love commenting on other blogs with it.
ReplyDeleteyay for disqus! even though i've had my share of problems with comments not necessarily coming through in Disqus, i think overall it's a win. i love seeing the threaded commenting (which is so much easier to read) and the fact that i can just respond via email. hope you end up liking it!
ReplyDeletecute & little
I love this outfit so much!!

I just made the leap to disqus too, for the reply feature! I think it's a good move, and you can always go back! :)
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I love the skinny cargos!
I just loaded Disqus too the other day! The only thing about Disqus that I'm having issues with is that the "X comments" button is no longer visible on the blog. Readers have to click on the post title to leave a comment...or am I missing something? Thoughts? Help!
ReplyDeleteOkay it's there now. Must have been a glitch with Disqus. Spoke too soon!
ReplyDeleteThat just happened to me too! I think it's just some bug that the Disqus system has, sometimes it'll show the comment number, sometimes it doesn't. I'm guessing it's maybe because disqus and blogger aren't in sync. I checked my blog earlier and the number of comments were gone, then checked back an hour later, and they were back. WEIRD.
ReplyDeleteBoo, hiss to glitches! Glad to hear I'm not alone in my struggles. On a side note: I would l-o-v-e to join the Seattle bloggers for the next meet up!
ReplyDeletePS: I used to work with Lindsay (from Lindsay Living) at BR :O)
YES! I'll add you to the email list. :) I was JUST reading your blog and saw that you're from Seattle, too! And that's so funny that you worked with Lindsay! Small world! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! You always look so cute!
ReplyDeleteI really love those pants with those oxfords! And switching to disqus has been on my to-do list for a while...thanks for reminding me I need to get on that!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I love your blog and am a new follower. Second, I'm a PNW blogger and didn't learn about the meetup until the day AFTER it happened (where's that list for next time?!) Third, I just installed Disqus myself a couple days ago and LOVE it. So cool that I can respond to comments by replying to the email notifications that get sent to my smartphone! Anywho, glad to meet you (online)!
ReplyDeleteOk, so I TRIED to follow you, but for some reason your "followers" section isn't showing up! I'll try back :)
ReplyDeleteI love disqus, mostly for the threaded commenting - so nice to be able to directly respond to people!
ReplyDeleteackkk, I am so behind on my blog reading! I think you're right, I should totally follow suit at get the DISQUS. I was going to do it along with the re-style but forgot so have been hoping blogger will just update; it's so not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI love the colour palette of what you're wearing. It's so perfect and so spring and I am so in love with blush and oxfords right now and I need more of each!
Great! Should be fun. :O)
ReplyDeleteI loooove the pants with those oxfords... Makes me regret returning my oxfords. :c
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of pants very similar to yours; I got them from AE on clearance for like $5 but they're a little too tight... I should have sized up because the way yours look is so flattering!!
It makes life so much easier. I wish everyone would switch so we could all be one big happy Disqus family.
ReplyDeleteHmm... Disqus hasn't been giving me problems and I don't even have an account!
ReplyDeleteYou've got the perfect outfit on to go with this super awesome perfect background. Loving all the neutrals!
Weird. Okay. I saw that you are following now, so I guess it worked? Hopefully you can make it out next time!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGET ON IT. You should totally do it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt eventually loaded. I'm thinking the problem was probably on my end :)
ReplyDeleteAt the Olympic Sculpture Park!
ReplyDeleteI bought my oxfords to go with skirts and dresses, but realized they weren't too flattering with my bigger calves, but I really like how they look with skinny pants! :)
Like this? YES. :) So awesome.
ReplyDeleteYou're so good at all this technical blog stuff! I've wanted to start a blog for forever but I'm intimidated by all of the know-how that goes into it. You should write an e-book on how to fashion blog!
ReplyDeletePS. It took less that 10 seconds for disqus to load for me. I timed it for you ;)
Yeah, so I kind of read the title of this post as 'Disqualified', and I was all excited for some kind of crazy competition story. I guess I will now have to make due with pictures of a great outfit, and my continued envy over those pants. I want them, very much :)
ReplyDeleteHah! I'm not that good. I just google a lot! :)
ReplyDeleteYou should totally start a blog!!! :) Blogger makes it super easy, and you can always email me if you have any questions! :)
Yay- I love disqus! I'm about 10x more likely to leave a comment on a disqus blog, because it's so much easier!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that you have to reimport all your old comments or something if you switch over? True?
ReplyDeleteTrue! But it only takes a click, and then you wait a minute or two for them to port over, it's really not hard at all!
ReplyDeleteAh, ok. I was under the impression you had to manually go through each old post or something. Hmmm something to think about!
ReplyDeleteOh now THAT would not be fun. It's super easy!
ReplyDelete(and I don't blame you for the peeps thing. They are disgustingly sweet...
it takes me months to finish a pack! but oh so yummy. Marshmallows with a
sugar coating? YES PLEASE.)
Ok sorry to be all annoying and keep asking ?s So do I just go to disqus.com and register my site and follow directions?
ReplyDeleteHaha I think I'm just not a marshmallow fan because I do love me some sugar! Lol.
Haha, it's no problem. Yeah, just register your site, and then you click "add to blogger" and then it's done. So simple. The website is easy to use.
ReplyDeleteOh, and don't forget to port over all the comments from Blogger when it's done. :)
Does it usually take awhile to show your old comments in the new disqus? Because right now all mine are gone even though I did the import thing.
ReplyDeleteI checked your blog and the comment I left earlier is still there, I think it just takes a little bit for the two systems to get in sync with each other. Just give it some time!
ReplyDeleteThere they are! Ok thanks for all the help and for giving me the push I needed to make the switch.
ReplyDeleteYou're so sweet! I will def take you up on that offer :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I love disqus blogging system because most of the time the comments are approved on the spot. Thanks for taking your time to discus about disqus. Ecommerce web developers
ReplyDeleteYes, I too agree with you point 'it really annoys me when Disqus doesn't load properly on blog'. I enjoyed reading your article. I always like to visit your post. Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI brought a great pair of jeans trousers flared for my sister and this pair Old Navy looks promising. She just need to try that, I hope she will be happy lot.
ReplyDeleteDisqus is cool but Facebook commenting system is the new shizz!! :)
