Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack
Skirt: BB Dakota
Boots: Indigo by Clarks
Belt: Thrifted
In the past, this skirt was usually reserved for the winter months, when I paired it with a black or grey top. I never thought of wearing it in the warmer months because A) it's a thicker fabric, and B) it's indigo-y blue, which I usually associate with fall and winter.
Now that it's April, I feel like I SHOULD be dressing more for spring, despite the still-really-cold temperatures. Even though I'm still stuck in thick tights and boots, I thought I could at least lighten up the colors a bit, and not go with the usual dark-and-drab look. I had envisioned wearing this skirt with a lavender top, but since I don't own such a thing, magenta it was.
So, this skirt has an exposed zipper that runs along the entire back without a little hook and eye closure on top (maybe I should just put one in myself..) and my son happens to LOVE unzipping zippers right now. I was putting some dishes away and he came up behind me, reached up and unzipped my skirt, and the entire thing fell to the ground. I'm just lucky he didn't do this while we were out. You know how embarrassing that would have been? I don't even want to think about it.

AHHh that skirt is TOO CUTE..I die. I've been on the hunt lately to find a scalloped skirt, but no good ones yet. And your son is too funny.
ReplyDeleteBahaha! I have a feeling your hubby doesn't mind his new habit. ;D I love how bright, yet demure you look in this outfit, Kimmie!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS SKIRT! Scallops are the amazing. They can be pretty AND delicious.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely for spring! I love the scallops, it looks like a little bluebell. That zipper detail is amazing (and apparently irresistable!).
ReplyDeleteSo, something about these shots makes it look as though your hair is midnight blue at the roots. It may just be my monitor. But, just fyi, you do look pretty rad with blue hair.
I adore this outfit. The color combination. The tiers on the skirt. The awesome boots. You look amazing!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty skirt design!

Hahahaha I love P!!! He is so precocious. Definitely going to grow up to be a ladies' man :)
ReplyDeleteI like this color blocking you've got going on (is that the right term?) One of my favorite outfits on you!
I love the background of your pictures. Alsom the colors in your outfit go great together. I love the scalloped skirt!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! One of my favorites of yours!
ReplyDeletelove the detail and color of your skirt, sweetie!!!
ReplyDeletei LOVE this skirt!! the color and the scalloped design is so lovely. and what a funny story about P unzipping your skirt!!

The color is perfect for spring! Especially with all the color blocking love going on right now. I love the layered scallops. So chic!
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is awesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I was thinking the same thing when I was editing them. But no, my hair is just black.. and the blueness was probably from the lighting :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. I thought I was color blocking, but then I think color blocking refers more to solid pieces of color.. so a cardigan and tiered skirt may not count. EH. I dunno.
ReplyDeleteHAHHAHA I laughed out loud when I read this. No, I'm cute and sassy, YOU'RE fun, funky and fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteFirst, 3rd photo- look at yesterday's Mansome post. ;)
ReplyDeleteSecond, you should wear that skirt ALL THE TIME. It's amazing! And yes, I'm glad P decided to wait 'til you were in the comfort (if you can call it that) of your own kitchen (bane of my existence unless and ONLY if I'm cooking). Good story, though.
I really like this color combo! I never would have thought of putting these together.
ReplyDeleteI have a question too...Are you at the Robinswood park? I live in the Seattle area and I love trying to figure out where you take your out fit pictures.
Fabulous outfit, I really love the skirt and the colors combined!
ReplyDeleteI just started following

Oh man! That would be embarrassing! YES you should add in an extra hook. You never know what kids will do these days.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOOOOVE the scallops of your skirt!
Just Better Together
My eyes got really big when I saw this skirt on you! It's so pretty. I love the scalloped layers, and the color!
ReplyDeleteOk, I am dying over the thought of P unzipping your skirt! Griffin has been known to pull off my pj pants when he is angry I won't pick him up while I am cooking.
ReplyDeleteAwesome skirt, though!
Haha! That's too funny.
ReplyDeleteIt was actually at my parents house, but only my mom saw, so it's all good. When I'm at home, the first thing I do when I step inside is change into "house clothes" - P is a pretty messy kid, and I don't want anything he's playing with/eating ending up on me!
LOVE this color combo! and what an awesome location!

Dang, you're good! I don't normally take my pictures on the Eastside, but I had a little extra time yesterday. I love looking for new (and discreet) locations for photos :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, yeah, same here. Those dang elastic waistbands don't do their job too well when there's a persistent toddler yanking on them.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice I was up in your 'hood for my pictures? haha :)
I am loving this color combo on you girl. You are dubbed skirt queen in my book. You have so many! It's inspiring. : )
ReplyDeleteLove the colors together!
ReplyDeleteI love the purple, and blue together. The skirt is really pretty on you. Your son sounds like he is too smart for his own good.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
That skirt is ahhhhmazing. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS OUTFIT! Those colors look so fantastic together, and I would never even have thought about pairing them like this.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love how the boots add a little bit of edge to such a flirty, scalloped skirt :)
You look adorable and I LOVE the colors of this outfit! I have nothing in these colors, but now I want some :)
ReplyDeleteThis skirt! OMG, super adorable! It's perfect.
ReplyDeleteHehehe. That totally sounds like something my Munchkin would do. I do love that skirt though. The color is great for spring especially with another bright like pink or yellow.
ReplyDeleteOMG that would have been rotten! Yikes! The things they don't tell you about having kids. I'm relying on you and Andrea to tell me everything wardrobe malfunction-related. This was truly like a "The More You Know" (insert jingle and shooting stars here) TV moment for me. Thanks!

You wouldn't normally wear this in the Spring? But it is a perfect Easter color! You look great. Were you participating in the Color Blocking Challenge ;)
ReplyDeleteThose colors look so good together! And that cracked me up about your skirt just falling to the ground, at least you'll know to pay close attention when you're out in public wearing it!
ReplyDeletePS I love this photo location!
LOVE that cute skirt. Perfect color. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, no, I was not. I stay true to my EBEW :)
ReplyDeletehaha, I had tried to pair it with yellow, but it just looked too much like school spirit with the purple and gold. Maybe I just have to try a lighter shade :)
ReplyDeleteoh, you are lovely! great skirt and colour mix! you look amazing
ReplyDeleteoh, you are lovely! great skirt and colour mix! you look amazing
ReplyDeleteperfect skirt and perfect colorway! i think you look a tulip, you know, like a coldweather spring flower!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic skirt! and the colors you used go so well together--so bright and springy!
ReplyDeleteKimmie this is one of my all time favorite outfits of yours! I love how you used just enough black to anchor the color, but not enough to overwhelm it! That skirt is divine and that is too funny about your son's bad habit :)
ReplyDeleteNice outfit. Wonderful colors.
ReplyDelete♥ Love,
