Shirt: J. Crew
Skirt: J. Crew
Flats: Target
Necklace: Forever 21
I met up with the lovely Rochelle from Rochelle Approved on Friday for lunch at Serious Pie (yum!) on her week-long layover trip in Washington. She and her husband are moving to Okinawa for three years, those lucky ducks. I'd be more jealous if Japan wasn't so expensive.
I felt very J. Crewy in this outfit because I wore the only two J. Crew items that I own (excluding a belt, so make it 2 out of three items I own). I mean, I do like their style (not so much the old school J. Crew with brightly colored chinos embroidered with little turtles and sailboats), but I didn't start shopping there until after I started this blog.
Good thing I have a sister who doesn't shop there as well, and she had a $100 gift card that she had hung onto for a few years. When I told her that I spied a skirt there that I liked, she generously gave me the gift card because she knew she wasn't going to be using it. Sweet! Too bad my husband was jealous that I got free money, so I agreed that I would only use half and he could have the other half. It sucks that $50 doesn't go very far at J. Crew, so I was only able to get this skirt and a belt, both on clearance, of course. Still, $50 free dollars is better than zero free dollars. :)

you're definitely right - 50 isn't much at J Crew, but that skirt is fabulous. great find! your whole look is fabulous. definitely J Crew-esq! i love it! and yay for meeting with Rochelle!
ReplyDeleteI love Serious Pie! Was that your firs blogger meetup?
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt!
ReplyDeleteThat is an outfit right up my alley! You look great. I do wish we had J.Crew over here, too, but I comfort myself in knowing that there are a lot of knock-offs on either side of the ocean - one just has to keep the eyes open :-)
ReplyDeleteRelatable Style
It's a good thing we don't have a JCrew in my tiny little city. I would be broke.
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous sister! I don't usually shop at J. Crew for the prices as well, but they do have some great sales, and there are often affordable options out there with similar aesthetics to them. I do love the pieces I have from them, though.
ReplyDeleteI really like the neutrals you've got going on in this outfit -- very chic.
This outfit is adorable! I am loving the two necklaces, too!
ReplyDeleteawesome look. classic.

this I think is my favorite outfit of yours! So cute. What did the hubs get? J buys almost his entire wardrobe at J Crew!
ReplyDeleteis it sad that hubs and I go to Serious Pie on a weekly basis? We are addicted. we love the new location on westlake.
you are one of my absolute favorite fashion bloggers! I love your look, outfits, and locations for pictures!
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny your husband wanted in on the gift card. Sounds like something my husband would do too. But only for certain stores (like J. Crew) he's a big snob when it comes to clothes. :) You look really great in your finds!
ReplyDeleteJenn
The striped top looks so good on you! I love nautical stripes :D

I'm so jealous of all your awesome picture backdrops. My backyard has got nothin' on your waterfront.

i didn't start shopping at J. Crew until after blogging either!! if only their clothes were more affordable. even on clearance it's a bit of a stretch! you and Rochelle look lovely and it sounds like you two had lots of fun!
ReplyDeletecute & little
MMmm Serious Pie is so yummy :) It was my first time meeting Rochelle, but I've had an opportunity to meet a lot of the Seattle area bloggers. Wish you were still here to come to our next meet-up! Our last one was lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have an awesome sister. I really like this skirt on you. I like J Crew but their prices are way too high for me. I always try to imitate things from there and buy them at the thrift store.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
There's always online shopping ;)
ReplyDeleteHe actually hasn't used his half yet. We keep forgetting to bring the gift card every time we go to the mall. If he doesn't use it soon, I'm going to go ahead and use it for him :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Serious Pie was amazing! The crust was just perfect :)
Aw, thank you so much Audrey! I'm really flattered :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, i'm kind of glad my husband isn't a clothes snob. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! If I had a pretty yard like yours, I'd take them there everyday, too!
ReplyDeleteReally, now.... You're going to help me spend money? hahaha. thank goodness I'm the sort of person who needs to try stuff on before buying! :) Safe again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet sister! My dad gave me $200 last month (which he NEVER does) and I felt like I had to share it with husband, too. I am like you in that I only have a few J. Crew items in my closet. I really love their stuff, but it's so hard to spend that much on one item!
ReplyDeleteYour post title made me giggle :) I'm J Crewy today, too, the skirt I'm wearing pretty much makes up my entire collection from the line. I really love the khaki and black together here!
ReplyDeleteLucky duck! I'm always the one buying J.Crew gift cards for my brother. Maybe its an older sibling to younger sibling thing? :)
ReplyDeleteThe cotton bell skirt fits you so well! I'm going to have to pair mine up with a striped tee too.
That's a lovely skirt! What a great wife you are for sharing... I'm not sure I would have shared with my husband... he already has more clothes than he needs.
ReplyDeleteloving your skirt kimmie!! and how you paired that matching necklace with it!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, yeah. tell that to my husband :)
ReplyDeleteWe're both doing the clothing budget thing, so we're in the same boat when it comes to not having enough money for clothes. I would feel a little selfish if I were to keep it all to myself.
I think your blog is so fresh and down to earth :) There's something about your style that I just really like! Going to be your new follower!
ReplyDeleteAww, this outfit is so simple and cute! And Serious Pie is DELISH.
ReplyDeleteI really really like this outfit, you look great!
ReplyDeleteConfession: Sometimes, when I'm at the mall alone, I just wander around J. Crew and drool over all the things my grad student budget won't let me have for a much longer period of time than deemed appropriate or healthy. So sad.
brownie points for you. a) for the good attitude about free $50, but b) for sharing with your husband! dang girl. THAT'S love.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outfit! Especially the skirt!
ReplyDeleteI found you through Jenn at The Suburb Experiment--very cute outfit! Perfect spring outfit for the weather here in WA. :) And Serious Pie? I definitely approve! Their fennel sausage pizza is so good!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Katie
Hey Kimmie, I had SUCH a great time at my Karen Kane styling day. They had put out a bunch of new summer merchandise, and so there was a bunch of discounted spring clothing, which is mainly what I got from. Have fun!! :)
ReplyDeleteStill haven't been to Serious Pie. I've only been to Lola. Both of your skirts are awesomerific!
ReplyDeleteJen Hemming and Hawing Again
your j.crew-ed look is fantastic! the necklaces over the stripes are very catalog-ish!
ReplyDeleteHa, my husband also isn't really into clothes at all. He just wears what I buy him & tell him he looks good in, so he's not that dialed in to shopping for clothes himself.
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute, very J Crew, and I WANT that skirt! And hey, 3 J Crew pieces beats my 0!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit -- love the skirt! I bought a similar one from jCrew in the winter (the wool bell skirt.) jCrew is always so over-priced. I love shopping their sales though!
ReplyDeleteVery cute ensemble!!! Oh and I would love some Serious Pie right about NOW : *)
ReplyDeletecute outfit--and love how you titled your post too!!
ReplyDeleteyeah $50 bucks doesn't go very far with J. Crew! but you lucky duck, free money is always fun to spend! haha. This is so cute. Is this the skirt that you were telling me the one I made looks like?
ReplyDeleteYou look too adorable for words!
ReplyDeleteBTW a $100 gift certificate wouldn't have lasted 2 seconds in my house...my sister and I LOOOVE the brand!

Yes! There was a pinky mauve colored one too, and I spent forever debating which one to buy. Your skirt totally reminds me of the pink version!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I have a necklace en route from Forever 21 that looks identical to the one you have on.
