The Shire

Top: Old Navy
Cardigan: Hand-me-down
Shorts: H&M
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: gift from Sydney

I'm really loving the longer daylight hours, because it means that I'm able to take my photos on the way home from work! Now that it's sunnier out, it's hard to take photos on my lunch break because of the harsh shadows as well as the tons of people taking a stroll, eating lunch outside, and enjoying the 50 degree sunshine. Plus, I'm kind of sick of the area around my work, and being able to take photos on my way home has opened up a ton of new photo locations.

I actually had another park in mind on my way home, but I didn't bother looking it up on the map to see where it was, and I drove around for 10 minutes looking for it. Turns out I took the wrong exit... but through my mistake I discovered this little place. I've taken photos at the same park a few times, but I had never seen this particular park entrance, where there's a lot less traffic and people. Perfect for setting up a tripod without being seen :)

My husband was looking over my shoulder when I was editing my pictures and noted how much the grassy hills looked like The Shire. I just need to add some little round doors and get some hairy feet, and then we can all pretend I took a trip to Middle-Earth to bring you these photos.

  3. I don't know if you will ever appreciate just how much I love the LORT reference. Definitely in my top 3 favorite movies of all time. Amazing.

Anyway, enough with my love for hobbits. I love that necklace and YAYYY shorts+tights.

  5. So flippin pretty! Is this Luther Burbank again? Looks like it... I should take the boys there on one of these sunny days.

You make the shorts/tights thing look completely effortless, love.

  7. I work at a start-up, so everyone just wears jeans and sometimes sweats to work. It's really nice that I can wear anything I want!

  10. I agree - totally shire-like location. Thank you for not including the hairy feet though. Cause that was icky even in top notch literature. And even worse on camera. (Don't get me wrong LOTR is still one of my fave movies ever. Just not a fan of hobbit feet. Ick.)

  16. The park looks so picturesque, I'm jealous! But your photos look amazing with the soft light and the romantic feel to it...I'm taking notes from you! Btw, I love how you paired your shorts with the boots. I'm afraid it makes me look shorter, but on you...it's perfect! =)

  18. Hahaha! the Shire! I totally can see it with the winding path in one of the pictures. How whimsical! Not the hairy feet though...

  19. I wish I could wear shorts and tights! Not just weather-wise (although we have the same weather) but work-wise. Not gonna happen. So, I'll live vicariously through you! Can you wear your giraffe shirt for me? Thanks!

  20. You really do look like you're in a magical little place in these pics! I also love the shorts with tights, I'm sad that our weather is way too warm to wear stuff like that anymore until probably November.

  21. I love this post simply for its name. And that it has "Middle-Earth" in it. Yeah, I am a nerd.

What a gorgeously whimsical place to take photos. Cutest dang hobbit I ever did see ;D

  22. Haha, so cute! It does look like the Shire and these are lovely photos.

Your comment on taking photos on the way home from work is making me wonder how I'm going to blog after I begin working and don't have dear boyfriend with me anymore! Do you ask co-workers to help you or do you do it yourself?

    Take care!
    Jen

  23. Middle earth is awesome! And I would trade in my favorite shoes... well maybe my second favorites to get to take pictures in Rivendell. These photos are so lovely and full of spring. And you make me wish I'd kept my boots with me so I could be rocking my shorts without freezing.

  24. New reader here - loving your outfits and photos! Quick hopefully not weird question: how tall are you? I'm in the market for Melissa Buttons and just wanted a real life reference. thanks!

  25. Someday, my husband and I want to visit the shire. And I'm totally with you about the longer daylight hours. But, I feel like I almost have to take my photos TOO late in the day now. My hair, makeup and outfit are disheveled by 7:30. :)

  26. Haha, thanks Sorren! I have been experimenting with mixing up the posing and still haven't decided if I look like I'm trying too hard or if it looks "natural" LOL :)

  27. Hey Jen! Oh no, none of my co-workers know about my blog! I take them all on my own with a self-timer. I actually dislike when my husband has to take my photos for me because he'll only take two and call it a day. I really like being able to have full control of them myself :)

  28. Hey Eleanor- no, not weird question. I'm 5'4.5" - sometimes round up to 5'5" :) I love my Melissa buttons!

  29. Oh I know. that's the drawback of taking pictures later. In an ideal world, I'd take my photos BEFORE work, but I'm usually running too late to do that :(

    ReplyDelete
  30. Haha! I will soon. I'm always wanting to wear it, but then I don't want people to think that's the only shirt I own :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. you look really, really cute in this outfit. i love it and want to copy it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Really? That's the same as me (you look so tall though!). Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Haha! That's really funny that you say I look tall. A few girls I'm blog friends with have added me to their "petite bloggers" lists, and I'm like, "Umm... just 'cause I follow a ton of petite blogs doesn't mean I'm one too... even though I BARELY make it over the "petite" mark.." haha :)

  34. I love that you're rockin the shorts and tights all the time now.

  35. Haha, I was about to wear shorts and tights today.. but then I thought that
I *JUST* wore shorts and tights and decided to give it a few more days :)
