Floral day

Tee: Forever 21
Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack
Skirt: Old Navy
Boots: Steve Madden

I'm so excited to be able to participate in the Everybody Everywear floral day! I had to miss the last two because 1) I did not want to buy a maxi dress just for the challenge, knowing I'd never wear it again, and 2) I broke my camera trying to take a picture for polka-dot day.

I've been seeing floral print everywhere lately, and I've been really REALLY wanting a new floral top (I only own one), but when I go shopping, I either don't like the print or the color, or don't like the cut of the top (why do half of them have to be strapless and/or have a cinched waist?!). I was almost tempted to wear this skirt out as a top today under a blazer, but my husband laughed at me, and I'll admit, it did look silly. Even when it was belted, the skirt is too poofy as a shirt.

What's on your spring shopping list? Mine is surprisingly short. All I want right now is a floral top, and some bracelets... because I don't feel like a real style blogger without a stack of bracelets on my wrist. It's hard to find bracelets that don't clang (I'm talking to you, metal bangles). I'm thinking maybe leather or braided bracelets? But I'm not sure where to look. Something like these, but in my price range, obviously. Any suggestions?

  2. I have yet to participate in an EB/EW challenge mostly because I forgot. I'm no good at the "let's all wear the same thing on the same day" things. Lame. I love bangles, but I don't think they make non-clangy ones...even plastic or wood would make a noise when they bang, right? Maybe elastic bracelets wouldn't since they're more stationary, but I don't know...I wear a stack of gold bangles sometimes that my parents got me that are woven together (if that makes sense) - they don't make as much noise as my loose bangles do ...but I don't know what to tell you...you do get used to the nosie, though (and I just take mine off if I'm in a meeting or anything where I don't want to be a huge distraction)

  3. I love your flowery skirt, especially paired with that bright cardi! My shopping list is always so long . . . new swimsuit (even though I just bought one. Turns out I don't like it as much as I thought I did. lol), orange jewelry, brightly colored capris or skirts (so I can try color blocking!)... Anways, I could go on and on and on, but I don't want to bore you. =)

  4. Kimmie, try H&M (http://www.hm.com/us/subdepartment/LADIES?Nr=4294966587#Nr=4294962555) and Forever 21 for bracelets!

Super duper cute outfit! Now you've got me picturing the skirt as a top. Maybe with a cardigan over it? SMH @ guys :)

  6. your skirt is stunning! I'd wear it everyday! It's so awesome to see florals everywhere! Floral day it seams to me is much popular than others. I didn't take part in last 2 as well because - I've forgotten about polka-dot day and didn't want to cheat and for maxi day I had the same reason with you.

  7. Thanks, Cee! I've been meaning to check out H&M! I just went over to their website and I really like these:

(they only have the image and not the actual bracelets listed- hopefully they'll have them in store!). The ones you suggested are really cute, too!

I've tried a couple different F21 stores but they only have loud bangles ;) And I was hoping to find something at F21 because I still have a few dollars left on my gift card. Guess I'll have to spend "real money" at H&M! :(

  8. I know! It's so hard to remember... even if it's only one day a month. You can always link up an outfit from a few days ago! :)

I've been looking into elastic bracelets but i haven't seen any I really like yet. Plus, it's still coat weather here in Seattle and I hate when my wrist-things get stuck inside my coat arm! :(

  9. Thanks Melissa! I know. I hate drawing attention to myself at the office in terms of noise. I get so self conscious when my stuff makes sounds, whether it's squeaky shoes or loud jewelery. :(

  10. Oh man, you reminded me that I need a new swimsuit too! :( GAH.

  11. Maybe because more people have things with florals on them? :)

Maxi day was tough because it's not something I'd normally wear! I was about to borrow one from my sister just to take a picture, then change out of, but that would be kind of a lie :(

  12. Hi Kimmie :) I'm growing my bangs out.

It's always the most annoying stage :)

  13. I could have easily participated in a floral EBEW. Darn you unorganized Melissa! (I tend to yell at myself in the third person).

That sweater is a gorgeous colour on you. And I love the idea of bracelets that are silent. I rarely wear my bangles for that reason. I can't handle the noise!!

  14. Ooh, I love the bright blue against the floral in this out. I haven't really done a lot of shopping for this spring, but I really am getting into wanting hats. It might have been because of the Royal Wedding ...

  15. Love the chunky boots with the feminine florals skirt. Great job!

  16. Lovely skirt. Florals can sometimes be tricky - you can either love or hate the print! Good luck on your search!

  17. Why did "real money" make me LOL? hahaha :) I definitely saw those in stores as recent as maybe 2 weeks ago? Lemme know if you can't find it and I'll check out mine. The mall is like my 2nd home lol.

  18. Now I want these bracelets!! Must find them for cheap! Or maybe make something similar. Now the wheels are turning. =) You look adorable love the mix of seasons with the boots and floral skirt!

  19. Really?! Oh, youre too sweet. I'm actually tempted to hop on the bus right now to the downtown H&M, it's only a few min away. I'll let you know if I need you to check for me! :)

  20. Haha, you can always link up an outfit from the past few days! I've seen people do that :)

I can't stand the noise of big bracelets, but I do like the look. Maybe I can just paint some on my arm... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Haha! I've never been a big hat person, but sometimes I wish us Americans wore hats to fancy events. That would be so much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ooh I know, I was at the craft store looking to see if I could make some leather braided bracelets, but laziness won out. :)

  23. I love this skirt SO MUCH! Florals and tiers just go together and the colour palette is perfect too. I know what you mean about shopping for florals, I find it really hard too. I don't what it is. I'm open to florals but I rarely seem to like them in person. I'll even go into a store because of the mannequin and then see it in person and change my mind. damn!

  24. Again...you look so great in that turquoise color!

The link to the bracelets you are looking for is not loading very well for me. :/ Cannot see any pics. Since you mentioned leather, American Ealge/Aerie has some cute leather bracelets...well, they appear to be. I do not personally on any, so I cannot comment on the quality. They always seem to have some special deal "Take 20% off and free shipping"...so keep an eye out for that.

  25. So cute! Love this skirt with the pretty turquoise top.

  26. I recently found a stack of bangles. Some are metal and some are covered with a thread that is wound around tightly until it covers the whole thing... Worn alternated, they don't clang :-)

  29. Look at you and your no-tights look today:)

I love this skirt! It's a pretty fantastic floral pattern...and it's kind of tough to find one that's the right balance between feminine and 'not-granny'.

  30. I love both the print and the tiered cut of that skirt! And that the feminine shape and colors are balanced by the black boots--I love everything about this look! And I feel the same way about bracelets. I can't stand them clanging around on my arm!

  31. I really want a floral top too. I feel like maybe I'm being too picky. I can't seem to find a good one anywhere. I'm also on the lookout for a a chambray shirt.

  35. Hey -- that's what I did today. Wore my skirt as a shirt. And I love my bracelets to jingle. I don't know why. But I have to say that I take off all my rings and bracelets when I sit down to work. I just can't work with them on.

  38. I know!! Solids and stripes are so much easier to buy. I never realized prints were so difficult, I guess that's why I don't have very many in my closet!

  39. I know! Either the print is perfect and the cut of the shirt is not (what is up with cropped tops, or those one-sleeved things, seriously), or the cut of the shirt is perfect and the print is not. UGH.

  40. Oooh! American Eagle, I didn't think of them. I'm sure they'd have something cute :) Thanks for the suggestion!

  41. Oh, I totally know what you're talking about! I think I used to have some in high school but don't know what happened to them. I did see some cute wrapped bangles at Forever 21 today, but I was too cheap to buy them ;)

  42. Ooh! How exciting, we're skirt twins! :) I originally thought it was too "young" looking for me, but styled right, it's not bad. Actually, this outfit is probably a bad example, I did feel really young in it, haha.

  43. Thanks, Kim! I'm seriously so in love with your floral/fruit print skirt. SO CUTE.

  44. Haha, it was finally warm enough! Actually, it was still pretty cold, but I managed. :)

I know, I've seen so many floral shirts that are like, "hmm... I can't tell if this is cute or looks like it's from my grandma's closet"

  45. Thanks, Shea! I know, I just hate making excessive noise when I'm at the office. :)
