Did you guys have a good Memorial day weekend? I wrote up a whole list of things I wanted to do, and I barely made a dent in it. I don't even know where all my time went... between watching episodes of Party Down and getting lost in a new blog (um, have you seen Young House Love? It's like watching one of those HGTV shows where they fix up old houses but with real people. They are amazing!) and getting a little bit of work done with my backlog of blog designs.. I didn't really do much.
The highlight of my weekend was going out dancing with my awesome girlfriends on Saturday night and having a sleepover afterwards (while P spent the night at my in-laws). My mom thinks I'm too old for sleepovers, now that I'm married and have a kid. But I love sleepovers! I hope I never outgrow them.

You look gorgeous. I love how simple this outfit is, and how the boots kind of roughen it up.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YHL (that's what the cool kids call it). Sherry (the wife) has a pinterest and it's awesome - I follow it if you want to search for it.
ReplyDeleteYour cardigan looks perfectly slouchy and comfortable {slouchy may not be a word but trust me it's looks like it}. Glad you had fun with your girlfriends :)
ReplyDeleteI still like sleepovers too. In fact, since most of my friends live in Seattle it's kind of a must when we have an evening out unless I REALLY want to drive back late.
ReplyDeleteHow cute are you?? I love this outfit! It's a great way to wear a dress, wear warm enough clothes for this God-forsaken weather, wear boots and a sweater, yet still look adorable (and not at all like it should be November). Nice work. I, on the other hand, completely threw in the towel (and some expletives) today.
ReplyDeleteloving these cutie patootie boots of yours :]
ReplyDeletei need to seriously get me a pair!
AND i totally had a sleepover too! it's the best! haha

I don't think girls are ever too old for sleepovers! And YHL is one of my favorite blogs. It makes me wish I owned a house so I could redocrate and try out some of the projects they have done.
ReplyDeleteyou're never too old for sleepovers! you look so cute in these pics! i love the dress!
ReplyDeleteThis post is why I always forget you're married with a KID, hahaha. Dancing and sleepovers?! I can't remember the last time I did either and I'm not even married nor have a kid! I'm green with envy right now. I'm glad you had a great weekend and looking good while you were at it!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm late on the YHL bandwagon! It makes me want to make our house look fanshy. I hope I can be a cool kid now ;)
ReplyDeleteSlouchy is a word! Right?! I thought it was.
ReplyDeleteAnd the cardigan WAS slouchy and comfortable. If only the weather cleared up though. I thought we were over cardigan weather! :(
I love the black and brown! I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.
ReplyDeleteSleepovers are SO fun! If I had friends who wanted to do a sleepover, I totally would too. I'm glad you had such a great time!
Come take a look inside A Working Mom's Closet
And your home is FAR!!
ReplyDeleteMy friend's new place is right on the edge of Belltown, so it's nice to not have to worry about driving and parking. Perfect for sleepovers!
Hhaha, I know. I had to restrain myself from wearing tights, because then my May outfits would look exactly the same as my December outfits.. which IS NOT GOOD.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with YHL too! They make everything so easy to follow, and write in such a welcoming tone. It's amazing how they turned their house from just a normal old house into something amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love this whole look. I don't know how you always manage to look positively perfect AND effortless. You need to give me lessons!
ReplyDeleteOo, I love the idea of sleepovers with my girlfriends. The last "sleepover" we all had was a trip to Boston a couple years ago where we all shared a hotel room. We had so much fun, and spent hours talking before we finally went to sleep.
Haha, sometimes I forget too. It's really nice having both sets of grandparents so close because they're always available (and more than eager) to babysit. I'm so lucky to have this sort of flexibility. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so much harder to have sleepovers with other moms because everyone has their own families to care for, so it's nice to get out with my single girlfriends every once in awhile :)
ReplyDeleteYour never too old for a sleepover, and Young House Love seems amazing.
ReplyDeleteyour mix of black and brown here is so good, lady!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend! I haven't had a sleepover in ages, but I agree they're the best. And that dress is so cute, what a great thrifting find!
ReplyDeletethanks so much for the help by the way!
ReplyDeleteI swear I worre this same outfit to a grad party but minus the boots and sweater since were quickly approaching triple digits! you look lovely!
I don't think there is such a thing as being too old for a sleepover! I'm glad you had a good weekend :)
ReplyDeleteSo, I've seen the knotted belt on a couple of different blogs now, and I'm curious...does the belt come that way, or do you just get a larger belt size and knot it yourself?
a. sleepover are awesome no matter how old you are. In fact, as you get older a few sleepovers are just necessary to keep your brain screwed in right
ReplyDeleteb. I went dancing with my girl friends Saturday night too!
c. No time is ever wasted when watching copious amounts of Party Down.
d. I heart your dress and how to spring-ized your boots.
I love how you styled the dress! And sleepovers are always the best, no matter how old you are! Don't grow out of them :)
ReplyDeleteOh Kimmie, I LOVE sleepovers too! I don't get to go to too many of them anymore since most of my friends feel like THEY're too old for sleepovers, but I don't care.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you've paired black and brown in this outfit! and I really love it when socks peek out of boots!
YHL is the best! Their tutorials are so easy to follow!
ReplyDeleteI love the dress! It's very cute and summery. I haven't had a sleepover in forever. I'm glad you had a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteWere you able to get the code to work? I hope you were able to get some cute things!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I think my favorite combo right now is black and brown. It seems silly that it used to be such a big no-no! :)
I just got a size bigger than I normally wear, more so that I can wear it normally with my low-rise pants... and so when I wear it up at my waist, it's too long and I have to knot it or else the end dangles too much.
ReplyDeleteThis belt happens to be really flexible so it's easy to knot. There are some that are way too stiff or that will get misshapen if you try to knot them. You just have to find one that is thinner and really flexible, but not TOO thin and flexible or else it wont hold the shape.
a. SO very true. It's always a nice change of pace apart from the old married life :)
ReplyDeleteb. FUN! great minds think alike :)
c. I think I'm in love with Henry. I'm going to be so sad when the finale comes up, I think I'm 3 episodes away :(
d. It's annoying that I still have to wear boots to keep my feet warm. I'm still waiting for spring to arrive!
That's because I learn from the pro! (um, that would be you, Dotty, if you had any confusion) ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat Site, your plugins are very useful and save me a tonne of time.hnt
