No effort

Dress: gift from friend
Flats: Target
Bracelet: swap with Frances Joy
Necklace: gift from Amber Lena

This outfit was from Friday. When it was still warm and sunny (it's not anymore, of course).

I "forgot" my lunch that day so I bought a gyro at my favorite Greek place and walked down to the waterfront and ate lunch in the sun. It was glorious, until I got home later and realized I got sunburnt from being out there for only half an hour. Now it's all itchy and red.. so annoying. The joys of being light-skinned, right?

Sometimes I love these looks-like-a-skirt-and-a-shirt-but-is-actually-a-dress-in-disguise dresses, but in this case, I wish the shirt part was a little bit longer. I kept tugging at the skirt part hoping that the waist would magically shift down, but no such luck. Then again, I didn't have to worry about my shirt becoming untucked or my skirt getting crooked all day. And, I felt put together without any effort, so that's a win in my book.

  2. Oh, the no effort look is definitely my favorite...but I think mine tends to be a little more obviously lacking in effort when I try it :)

I think this dress is absolutely adorable, and I love your hair in these pictures!

  3. This is no effort?  I LOVE it!  This would have taken me forever to pull together ;)  Boo about the sunburn :( Guess you should keep sunscreen at your desk and put it on before heading out!

  9. Haha, I HATE sunscreen (terrible, I know.) Plus, the burn was on the tops of my thighs where I never would have thought to put sunscreen on anyway. Oh well!

  10. hahah! Thank goodness we have a pretty casual office, or else I'd never be able to wear something this short, lol

  11. Haha! I have to go to Target at least once a week, I love that place. Target flats are hit or miss in terms of comfort, I do like the Merona brand better than the trendy/tween Xhililiration stuff that tend to not have any cushion/support. The pairs of Target flats that I do have all have a little bit of padding in the sole, so they're super comfy.

Aw, that sucks you won't be able to make it to Seattle! I was hoping to go, but we still don't have our memorial day plans finalized yet. We'll see! :)

you should ask where your friend got that dress!

  17. I do the same thing! I have no idea why I think pulling the skirt down will elongate the shirt, but I totally and completely do!

side note: So jealous of the bare legs!!

  18. I get sunburned so easily too. If you wouldn't have said anything I would have thought they were two separate pieces. That's a great dress.

  20. gyros are my FAVORITE!!!! It sucks the place right by my work is expensive,
but the yumminess makes it totally worth it. Makes me happy when I forget my

  23. cute!  I got burned last week too :(  the annoying thing is that the boys have their Dad's skin and just get golden brown while I turn into a lobster w/o sunblock!

That is a really cute dress. I'd probably be tugging at it too. I'm always doing that with shirts that seem to not hang down.

As far as disguises go, I loved culotte shorts when I was a kid. Shorts, but they looked like a dress.
