Now that the weather is nice, I'm running out of places to take my photos. All the parks are too crowded during lunchtime and after work for me to stealthily take my own pictures.
There's this little grassy knoll that I always see on drive home, but I've never known how to actually get there. The other day, I saw a random dirt road and being the explorer I am (I'm actually not. I totally freaked out that I would get stuck in there with no way out), I turned down it to see where it would lead to. While it didn't actually make it to the knoll, it landed me this secluded little spot to take a few photos. Too bad it was in perfect view of a house with two dogs, and they came out barking halfway through my photo shoot. A kid came out to calm them down and kept giving me weird looks, probably wondering what the heck I was doing taking pictures of myself on a dirt road.
Oh, and I made a quick lunchtime trip to Forever 21 yesterday to hunt for this yellow skirt that I saw on the website, but the only one left was on the mannequin, and the sales girl told me that they were completely out of them in the store. They've since sold out online so I guess my only hope is that I'll find it (or something similar) in Boston. I did, however, leave with this skirt in coral (see it on Cee here) and a red and white striped tank top. Yeah, so much for not shopping.

I like all the earthy shades of blue in this outfit! Lately I've been taking my pictures in my alley, and the house directly behind ours has two very big, very loud dogs - they always bark at me - I'm worried one day I'll get caught!
ReplyDeletePerfect summer outfit! I do the same thing when taking pictures, don't people realize we just need some privacy!

you should have demanded the skirt off the mannequin! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that you were doing 30 for 30 - fun! I don't normally comment on belts but I REALLY like yours. It goes well with the rest of your outfit too. :)

This outfit is adorable, and yay for you being adventurous! I'm always really disappointed with forever21 when they have something on display and they have sold out of it. According to the sales girls, they can't take the item off display until it's time for a new display, and even if it's exactly what you want and it's in your size, they can't sell it to you. I've run into that a few times in the past, and it makes me frown every time.
ReplyDeleteOoh, can't wait to see in new skirt in action! You look very spring-y today. I hope that means the temperatures are warming up for you!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you couldn't find that skirt, it's really cute.
ReplyDeleteEh, not shopping is not nearly as much fun as shopping. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in this little skirt with the floral top! I love the sandals too. Isn't it fun to find new places? I wish I could do that but...well...I'm just too lazy, really :)
Come take a look inside A Working Mom's Closet
I love how the knot of the belt echoes the knot of the sandals... nice touch! :) I hope you keep exploring... can't let the crowds prevent you from taking your great photos! When I was styleblogging I ended up taking a lot of photos in the bathroom at work (not interesting).
ReplyDeleteI love the white skirt! You look so cute and summery. Can't wait to see you in that coral skirt too, the scallops are just perfect.
ReplyDeleteThey should have given you the one off the mannequin! I did that once, in Nordys. The only 4 was on the mannequin, and I was like, I want it. If you give me the one on the mannequin, I will buy the matching jacket! Its a sale!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're doing 30 for 30!
Day 2 and you already shopped? :D Kidding! I'm not as good this time around either. I've already bought... 4 items I think and I'm not even halfway through! Boo for lack of self control :)
ReplyDeletei totally know what you mean about running out of places to take pictures. i have the same problem! always too many people around these days. ;)
ReplyDeletei love the pretty floral top with this outfit and that cardigan matches perfectly. and i can't wait to see how you style the coral scalloped skirt!
cute & little
I love the floral pattern of the top. The coral skirt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteoh that dirt road is an awesome photo spot. and i've asked them to take stuff off mannequins before...got dirty looks but they did it. hahaha. and i am completely failing at the no shopping thing. sigh.
ReplyDeletecaroline - pictures & words
You should have Jeremy take your photos for you!!! oh man, I'd get so embarrassed if my neighbors caught me taking photos. Random strangers I would be kind of embarrassed, but neighbors? SUPER embarrassing. haha :)
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to train my husband to take my photos for me and he's improving a little...
I know! But I know Forever 21 is a stickler for not letting people mess up the mannequins since they spend so much time coordinating the display outfits. They can't just throw on a random substitution. :(
ReplyDeleteYeah! well, I started a few days later than everyone else :) and thanks! it's a cheapy forever 21 belt but it goes with almost everything!
ReplyDeleteI know! I'll bet it's hard for them though, because they go through inventory so quickly, but they can't just keep switching out the displays. I'm pretty sure someone spends A LOT of time coordinating and dressing the mannequins so they can't just swap stuff out, but that's just annoying to see something and not be able to buy it! :(
ReplyDeleteHaha, these pictures were from a few days ago, and the temperatures have been going up and down the last few days. Today was up, which was good! :)
ReplyDeleteI know! I just can't resist shopping :(
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure Orlando has some really pretty locations to take photos outdoors. But it's probably HOT... and lots of people. A combination I do not like! :(
Nordstrom is so much nicer about that kind of stuff, but not Forever 21. Boo on them, but I guess they aren't really known for customer service, are they? :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I'm behind in posting these photos so yesterday was day 5 already, so I did go 4 days without shopping. And technically it was to go buy my "wildcard" item :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh! what did you buy! I'm kind of not liking the "make up your own rules" that Kendi is doing this time around. So much easier to justify shopping! :)
But you always find the prettiest locations! Do you do it in the morning before work? I bet that's a better time than lunch or after work, but I can barely get ready on time, let alone early enough to go take pictures. :(
ReplyDeleteHot is definitely true, and lots of people - I'm not fond of that combo
ReplyDeleteeither so I just stay in my room to take photos! :)
this look is fabulous! super flattering and definitely spring-ready! you look great!
ReplyDeletei hope you do find the skirt. :D crossing my fingers for you!
ReplyDeletealso, i love what you've done with your belt there. so subtle but the detail is so cute!
I love the print of this shirt and all the colours in this outfit in general, it's one of those outfits that I would try and wear all the time. It's the perfect blend of pretty, pulled-together, relaxed and versatile (you can take the cardigan off if it's too hot)
ReplyDeleteAlso, what happened to your closet post!? I can see it in my reader but it doesn't exist when I click it :(
I've actually worn this outfit a bunch of times on and off the blog, it's one of my go-to outfits when I don't know what to wear.
ReplyDeleteAnd I accidentally published the closet post last night, I was trying to schedule for when I'm gone but I accidentally hit publish instead of save :( I was hoping it wouldn't have gotten pushed to the feed, but I guess I was wrong!
i do take mine in the morning before i leave for work. unfortunately i can't leave my desk during lunch (stock markets are still ticking!) and the sun's too bright after work. it does mean i have to set my alarm an extra 30 minutes earlier in order to get the pics in... the sacrifices i make for blogging! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are an amazing explorer! I would be so freaked out to go through some random road, so I always do that when I have my husband with me. hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe we've talked about this before, but I have those sandals :) Does the zipper rub the back of your ankle at all? Mine do a little, but I'm hoping it will go away soon...
ReplyDeleteI love that you're heading off the beaten path now to take your pictures. It's kind of a nice way to see the other side of your city, I think!
I think it might have when I first wore them, but they don't anymore! Maybe
ReplyDeleteyou can try adding some moleskin padding to the shoe?
