The other day, I came across this following image on a slideshow on the People Stylewatch website. I'd link to it, but it's such a poorly laid out site that I tried for 15 minutes to get to the beginning of the slideshow and COULD NOT GET THERE. Their search function on their site sucks as well, so I'm even going to waste any more of my time.
Basically, it was asking 'would you wear this?' - referring to the open denim shirt. At the time, I scoffed and thought, "heck no!" I used to wear my denim shirts like this in high school, and I'm not about to do that over again.
The very next day, I was trying to think of what to wear over my striped tank to work, and I recalled this image. I guess if Jessica, Kourtney and Jessica are all wearing open denim shirts, then it can't be that bad...

I love the jeans you are weraing! And I was the same way with the open denim shirts. It brought back too many memories of bad denim styles, but I really like the casual look now and it's a great swap out for a cardigan since i wear them CONSTANTLY.
ReplyDeleteI think you look better than all the inspiration looks!
ReplyDeleteI sort of thought the same thing... but then again your outfit does look adorable, so open denim shirt must be a go!
ReplyDeletelove your stripes and denim on denim!!
ReplyDeleteI like it open! And I think your look is better than any of theirs :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I wear my denim jacket open (zipped up looks weird). Does that count?
ReplyDeleteI like how you tuck yours off to the side so it looks a bit shorter. It works really well with the red stripes!
I love the way the open denim shirt looks! I think it's all about the way you style things--the way you're wearing that shirt with the stripes makes it really modern. I would totally wear this!
ReplyDeleteI'd be reluctant too but it looks fantastic with red!
ReplyDeleteI love this. So casual chic. I love the half tuck too!
ReplyDeletehaha you made it look great! I totally understand the initial "ack" but it really is looking modern and fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLOL - I actually like your interpretation of the look best!
ReplyDeleteI think the same thing about friendship bracelets...wore them way back when and can't imagine wearing them again, unless, of course someone makes one for me!
I LOVE this outfit! Those jeans are the bomb on you!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I needed some inspiration. I think I'll try this tomorrow....
ReplyDeletetotally remember wearing my denim shirt in high school! i've been rockin plaid ones lately too, a la nirvana...
ReplyDeletelove the jeans!
I totally agree! So much more warm-weather-friendly than a cardigan.
ReplyDeleteI almost never zip my jackets shut, it usually looks weird! :( Hoodies though, I like to zip :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't like how the sides hung (sort of like J.Simpson above) so I tucked them back behind my arms, but then the side/back view was kind of weird. Oh well!
I know! I'm totally starting to love friendship bracelets again, but I feel kind of weird if I were to buy one or make one myself (so, I'm BFFs with MYSELF). At least slap bracelets aren't coming back in fashion :)
ReplyDeleteYeah! it's weird how 90s fashion is coming back around. I thought I was over flannel and denim shirts in high school, but I guess not!
ReplyDeleteHa! I used to do the exact same thing in high school...apparently, the unbuttoned button-up shirt is making a comeback. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteI think it looks cute with this combination, though :)
Great Site, your plugins are very useful and save me a tonne of time.
