[Summer 30 for 30: Outfit 18]
Tank top: Karen Kane
Skirt: Karen Kane
Belt: Nordstrom
Shoes: Target
I'm breaking all sorts of rules today. Mixing patterns AND wearing brownish shoes with with black*. I would have worn black shoes, but last time I wore this skirt with black flats, my legs looked like stumps. My 30 items doesn't include black heels, so what could I do? But the stripes and floral is something that I've been intending to try out, and I kind of liked it.
I also cheated a bit and wore a cardigan over this outfit at work. It was necessary because the majority of the shirts I included are tank tops, and I only have two cardigans and a blazer for cover-up. Bad planning on my part. I'm not going to wear just a tank top into the office! Not that we have a rule against tank tops, but it's just not tank-top weather here in Seattle. It's a little depressing when stores are bringing out their fall lines and we're still waiting for summer to start.
I thought this picture was hilarious and accurate:

Yep, that about sums it up.
* I wear black and brown together ALL the time, but I usually try to tie in something brown like a brown belt or brown-ish tones elsewhere in the outfit. This outfit was an exception.

Love the pattern mix up!
ReplyDeleteoh my, that picture is soooo hilarous! andddd very accurate...ahh poor NW lol
Wouldn't have guessed you were breaking any rules! You look great!
ReplyDeletehaha that picture is hilarious! I also agree about the tank tops in the office, Halifax is the same way, the weather just isn't hot enough here often enough to have office-types warm up to the idea.
ReplyDeleteAND I love how you matched florals and stripes, you did it verrrry well
ReplyDeleteYou are such the rebel ;) - I think the brown is dark enough that it is hardly noticeable. Love your pattern mixing too.
ReplyDeleteStripes and florals FTW! You look awesome. Brown and black and everything. And I love that picture!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit!! I totally get the drawing, what with living here in Vancouver :(
ReplyDeleteI love your pattern mix. It's actually a huge trend for now and fall; so you're on top of it. The weather summary is also perfect.
ReplyDeleteLol! Loving the pic! When we were up there end of June/beginning of July it was still in the high 60s/low 70s. Was a nice break from the Vegas 90s/100s! :) We will be up again in August...hope it will be a little warmer then!!
ReplyDeleteYour stripes and florals worked out great! I love that skirt!!
love the mix of stripes and florals, girl!!
ReplyDeletePlease tell me that Keanu.
ReplyDeleteI think you look great! Fashion rules are made to be broken!
ReplyDeleteI hope the sun makes his way in your direction soon :)
hey! i just found your blog from Janine, Salt Water Joy. I love you style! now following :) mysoulisthesky.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAw, sad Keanu. I like the pattern mix! The floral is just subtle enough to blend nicely. Well done.
ReplyDeleteWe have a pretty laid back office, so tank tops are fine, it's just not hot enough to warrant baring that much skin yet! :(
ReplyDeleteI know, right? At least this weekend is supposed to be nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope so too! Just not TOO hot though, because Seattle is not used to extreme heat. Very few houses have A/C (because you only need it 5 days out of the year) so when it gets hot, it's unbearable.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, it is :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for following!! :) I'm loving your blog as well!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the EBEW challenge! Your florals and stripes are fantastic! I also chose a black and gray top :) The weather map pictures is perfect. So true.
ReplyDeleteI love the stripes and florals together! Who needs rules, right? I got a good laugh out of that picture, honestly I'm wishing for a little relief from the heat right now. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this! The black and white stripes look great with the light, airy skirt!

It is a great outfit!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I need to send that picture to my mom. My whole family lives in Seattle and I am a crazy who moved to Arizona. I complain to them about the 113 degree heat and they tell me that they are FREEZING their bums off. A perfect medium would be GREAT, but I guess it's not happening.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that outfit. I really need to try stripes and floral. I have been pinning stripes and floral on pinterest for a while now, but I think you are giving me the kick start I need to just do it already. Great outfit!
I personally am a huge fan of mixing stripes with floral. You pulled the look off really well. So cute! - Katy
