Giraffes and Foxes

Top: Charlotte Russe
Jeans: Gap
Bracelet: Old Navy
Necklace: Kenneth Cole via Macy's
Shoes: Target

When I first bought this giraffe shirt last year, I knew I loved the print, but I hated the boxiness and the unnecessary bottom tier. I had originally planned to only wear it when I could tuck it in. Little did I know that I would come to love this shirt and its boxiness (hides muffin top pretty well!) and the bottom tier that makes it a little more special. The only thing I hate is that every time I see this shirt hanging in my closet, I kick myself for not buying its fox-printed companion at the time, especially because they were on clearance for only $5. WHY DID I NOT BUY IT?!! So mad.

Speaking of regrets, I finally went to watch the final installment of Harry Potter over the weekend (I was lucky it was still playing in theaters) and now I'm so so so so sad that it's all over. Nothing else to look forward to... other than the Hunger Games movie, and the American version of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo... and Breaking Dawn? Maybe just a little bit... I haven't decided yet.

Hope you folks on the East Coast stayed safe and dry over the weekend!

  1. Love the print on your shirt!  This outfit is great!
And it's true, the last harry potter is so depressing because it ends such a good series... But I am looking forward to the American version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as well :)

  2. I love your blog - I am new to reading fashion blogs, but of the 40 or so that I read, yours is one of my favorites.  Your style is simple and clean, and I love your writing.  Plus, my husband and I would love to go to graduate school in Seattle, so I am LOVING your photo locations!!!  Keep it up, Kimmie :)

  4. aww, giraffes! So cute. Yeah, not buying that top in the fox print was probably a really bad idea.

  5. I love your bracelet, I would have never guessed ON, it looks more expensive.  We are going to see HP sometime this week or next, and I am going to be sad, too!

  9. That is so cute!  And I love your outfit today.  I'm a sucker for a great pair of jeans and a cute top.  Those jeans make your legs look a million miles long.

  10. Oh, I do love the giraffe-print but the foxy one sounds divine.

  11. Giraffes are my favorite animals! Therefore, I am in LOVE with that top.

  12. Yeah! I still haven't finished watching the Swedish versions (only watched the first and second, not the third yet) but I was sad that Blomkvist wasn't as good looking as I had pictured him to be when I read the books. Hopefully Daniel Craig will fit the bill better! :)

Bring lots of tissues to the movie!! :)

  17. hahaha! I know. I've been wearing a lot of boxy and woven tops recently because clingy knit shirts are not my friends these days :( jeans so tight! hahaa

  18. I KNOW, right? Oh well! I've been seeing a lot of really cute animal-printed clothes recently so I hope I can find something to fill my fox-shirt void :)

  19. haha you are the best - I love WHEN YOU YELL IN YOUR POSTS! I was going to say, I love the boxiness and bottom band of this shirt.

Not going to lie, I cried in the last movie BECAUSE it was the last movie and there were no more. As for breaking dawn and the twilight series, I seriously am so mad at it for making me go back and watch them - not because the movies have been good but just because I have some odd compulsion to because I read the books.

  20. Charlotte Russe often has the cutest prints. I miss having one in town.

  21. I was like sobbing during the final battle scene, like, embarrassingly loud, couldn't catch my breath sobbing. HAHAHA. I'm so weak. Just so much sad.

I read all the Twilight books after making fun of the movies (too much bad acting) and surprised myself by liking the books. I'm nowhere near a twihard, but the story was good (and addicting. couldn't put the books down) and I'd like to see how the movie plays out. Although part 1 just looks like a lot of wedding/honeymoon scenes (which will mean a lot of RPatz and KStew making out and having sexy time), I'm more looking forward to part two and seeing what the babby looks like :)

  22. Oh Lord. I can't even begin to tell you how much I adore this top. The idea that there's a fox-y (hehe) one floating around out there somewhere in the ether -- or that there was at some point -- sets my little heart all aflutter. ::sigh:: I love prints like this. I just never seem to be able to find them! At any rate, you look adorable!!

I'm ashamed to admit that the final Harry Potter nearly reduced me to tears. The end of that movie effectively signaled the end of my childhood. ::sniff sniff:: At almost 27 years old, I can finally say I've become a woman. hehe

  23. Aw, you guys don't have any over there? I like that the stuff is on par with F21 in terms of quality and price but they always have sales and clearances, unlike F21. Though I need to stop shopping at those kinds of stores and start buying more well-made clothes. Maybe I should start shopping at Anthro? JUST KIDDING.

  24. Yeah, there's one in Rochester, about an hour away, but none in the sad little mall here.  I'm also starting to think I should focus more on well made clothes.  But come on, who can resist a giraffe or a fox print?  They never have stuff like that at JCrew.

  25. i like your print shirt. it's such a good. :)

  26. Ohhhhh man! The fox printed companion would have been amaaazing. But at least you have the giraffes. And the silhouette does look amazing with those super amazing jeans. I'm so glad you found them!

  31. Perfect outfit! Love the top, love those flared jeans, you look so so pretty!!

  32. Nearly reduced you to tears? I was sobbing so hard that my husband was giving me funny looks in the theater.

I didn't read the books until I was in college, so I don't feel the "childhood" thing, but I know that a significant portion of my life was spent reading these books and listening to the audio versions (love Jim Hale!) so it's just hard to move on knowing that there will never be any more HP stories!

  33. Yeah! it'd be interesting to follow their kids as they navigate Hogwarts, maybe a new trio of kids getting into trouble and fighting off a new dark wizard. I know she's working on the encylopedia, and there's the Pottermore, but I dont' really have any interest in that. I want more story and books! :)

  34. Thanks, Kimberly! I should probably be happy with what I have already and not pine after things that got away. :)

  35. Such a fun top! Love those flares on you!!

  36. I kind of dig the boxy top trend right now too - just not tooo boxy - because it totally does hide a multitude of cake and cookie sins!

And I watched the first two of the Swede versions of the Dragon Tattoo movie too - I just hope the Hollywood version doesn't end up making everything too flashy and glam.

  37. Don't you hate regretting non-purchases? So many missed opportunities in our past. :)

I am so in love with this outfit! The proportions, the print. I agree--boxy shirts are the best at hiding muffin-top, which is why I love 'em!

  38. I hate to even type this..but I OWN THE FOX shirt!!  I got both for 5 bucks each as well.  I just gave the giraffe one to my best friend because I didnt love the gray on me.  But I do love the foxy one...if I ever want to get rid of it, I'll email you and send it your way!!
