This outfit was the cause of a tantrum. I was getting dressed in the morning when my 2-year-old came over to see what I was doing. Having no idea what to wear, I asked him to pick a shirt for mommy.
P: [Pointing to my green cardigan] Mama wear deen one! (he can't pronounce the "g" sound)
Me: No, it's too hot to wear the green one.
P: deen one too hot hot!
Me: Yeah, it's too hot. How about this blue shirt?
P: Mama wear boo shir!
Me: Okay. [tries it on] Ugh. I don't like it. I'm going to wear this other shirt instead.
P: NO! MAMA WEAR BOO SHIR!
Me: No, sweetie. Mommy is wearing this other shirt today.
P: NOOOOOOO DAT SHIR!!! MAMA WEAR BOO SHIRRRRR!!!! NOOOO!!! WAAAAH!!!!!
He was kicking and screaming, and when I tried to pick him up to calm him down, he just tried to rip my shirt off because he hated it that much. Life is so hard for a two-year-old.
In other news, I guess you pay for what you get. The rubber padding things on the bottom of these $20 shoes are falling off BOTH shoes already. After wearing them only twice. Nothing a little superglue can't fix, but annoying nonetheless. Especially because they kept catching on the carpet, and would make weird smacking noises when I was walking around the office. Not cool.

Man, you think it's age, but really, it's gender. My husband goes into tantrums when I wear stuff he hates too. hahaha. Ok, I'm kidding. Kinda.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that story just made me laugh! I think I've been in that exact scenario once or twice. It's made me stop asking Little Guy for help when I'm getting dressed. lol Despite what P thinks, you look cute! =)
ReplyDeleteyour son is too cute! kids just say the cutest thing! i love the second pose!
ReplyDeleteHaha! That's hilarious! Bummer about the shoes because they are so cute.
ReplyDeleteNorth Meets South
awww. Well hey it does look cute! That's sweet that you went with his choice even if it was after tears. I don't dare let me niece help me. I'd be going out in tu-tus and rainboots if she had her way. =)
ReplyDeleteUgh, those smacking noises are the worst. As for your son's taste in tops, I think you need to make him watch some old episodes of Tim Gunn's Guide To Style to set him straight. The blue shirt is quite fetching on you!
ReplyDeleteI do like that blue shirt on you, despite all the drama is caused this morning.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are cute ... too bad they are poorly made. :(

Gotta love those two-year old tantrums! Poor little kids, life can just be so hard. :) I understand about cheap shoes. I have a pair that make a squeak when I walk and it drives me batty.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! That is absolutely hilarious!! I can't explain why, but I always think it's adorable to see what sorts of unique pronunciations kids come up with. When I was a wee little thing, I couldn't say "helicopter," so I would always say, "hecliclockter." I think "boo" and "deen" are waaaaay cuter than "hecliclockter," though. =) At least your little boy knows what he likes, though, and is forceful in his opinions. Perhaps you have a future lawyer on your hands. lol

Your son is going to be one fashionable tot! Can you show us some of your son's outfits just for fun?
ReplyDeleteAw, P and I would never get along, because I have that exact same top from the BR outlet in a lighter blue :)
ReplyDeleteI really love it paired with that skirt!
Hahaha I don't know what's funnier, P's tantrum or how you remembered the story word for word. Too adorable! Chalk it up to a phase b/c this blue shirt suits you well!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness. That's SO cute!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny, although I'm jealous you have a little guy to help you decide what to wear!
ReplyDeleteAwwww...he already has a strong opinion (that is a good thing)!
ReplyDeletehaha, no I didn't go with his choice, thus the tantrum. I'd look like a mess if I listened to him! :)
ReplyDeletehaha. I totally should, though for some reason I think he'd find those uninteresting. WHERE ARE THE ANIMALS?! (he only watches cartoons and NatGeo shows)
ReplyDeleteI used to have a few posts! but he grows so fast that we don't spend much money on his clothes, and he just wears boring stuff from target and Old Navy. Nothing worth posting about!
ReplyDeleteReally? awesome! We're totally shirt twins! :)
ReplyDeleteHis vocab is pretty limited right now so it's easy to remember what he says :)
ReplyDeleteNo it's not! He's so stubborn. Not getting his way is the end of the world for him! :(
ReplyDeleteHaha, with him, it takes me twice as long to get ready in the morning because he's constantly telling me to "TOME HERE MOMMA!" (come here, he can't pronouce c's) and making me look at his trains and animals and read books when I'm in a hurry. There's no way you could be jealous of that. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! oh, men. :)
ReplyDeletehaha doh... clearly i don't read well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tiffany. Children should not be relied on for clothing advice I've learned :)
ReplyDeleteCute outfit!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love when little kids says words with multiple syllables! He pronounces helicopter as "helder-codder" and ambulance as "am-bens" it's so cute! my favorite is wildebeast (he's into animals) pronounced as "will-bee" :)
ReplyDeleteps. sorry took so long to respond- apparently disqus marked your comment as spam :( :( :(
