Watermelon

It's a little bit sad when I look forward to going to the dentist because I can finally get out of the house WITHOUT the two kids. I've been meaning to take outfit photos every time I've been getting dressed (which admittedly is not everyday... many days are spent entirely in pajamas) but outings with the kids are already enough work on their own.

Anyway, today's outfit was inspired by Kayla, Erica and Grace's Open to Interpretation: Make It Your Own challenge, and is my personal take on this:

The initial thing that stood out to me when I saw the inspiration photo was the pink and green combo. And because I was strictly forbidden to eat watermelon during this postpartum month, that was the first thing I thought of. In Chinese tradition you aren't supposed to eat "cold" foods for the first month after giving birth, and my mom specifically told me "NO WATERMELON" which means I'm only able to eat it after she goes home. Yes, I am a rebel.

  11. Kimmie I was very excited to see the exclamation points in your tweet for this post, and it did not disappoint.  You look really cute.  And I laughed b/c the dentist gets me dressed and out of the house too, even without infants/toddlers keeping me home.

  14. I tore this page from the catalog and pinned it on my cork board for a long time. So glad I wasn't the only one who found this photo inspirational. 
    After I gave birth to my daughter, the nurse came in with a big glass of ice water. My mom's jaw dropped, lol. I never followed any of those rules and I'm fine. You are not supposed to shower for a month either. Just kill me. haha.

  16. Great look!  By the way, that is interesting about not eating cold foods.  I just started doing some acupuncture and they told me to not eat anything cold either :)

    Haha, I don't think I would be able to follow all the rules about not leaving the house, not going up and down the stairs, not showering, not eating cold foods, etc. I didn't even try, and I'm glad that my parents and my in-laws aren't giving me any trouble because of it... except for the watermelon thing. haha!
