Matchy Matchy

Top: BR Factory Store
Skirt: Old Navy
Blazer: Old Navy
Shoes: Sam Edelman Sophie

After I decided to keep the Sam Edelman wedges, I realized I was stumped on what to wear them with! I usually stick with neutral colors for shoes, so even though these aren't too colorful, they were a challenge for me. Should I wear them with a neutral outfit? Or something with the same coral color? Or pair them with a complementary color? Decisions, decisions.

I found three tops in my closet that matched perfectly, so I decided to go the matchy-matchy route first.

How would you wear them? My ideas are limited and I would love suggestions :)

PS. That odd triangle of fabric by my neck is just a flipped-up ruffle. Didn't catch it in time :(

  1. I really liked the review you did for the shoes. Even though I don't own them, I love the soft color palette and they're perfect for transitioning into the fall (unless it starts pouring... ). This outfit is so cute!

If these shoes were mine (ugh, so tempted to buy but I'm trying not to spend right now), I would probably pair them with some dark wash skinnies, a neutral colored blouse, and a coral cardigan.

  2. I have a pair of orange sandals and I had issues at first with wanting to wear orange things with them, but I usually just wear them if my outfit is a little dull and needs a pop of color! Great sandals! You look really cute in this blazer, too!

  3. I'd wear them with cobalt blue.  I think'd it'd be a nice contrast that would go well.

  4. The light coral looks great with any pastel in the blue/green family - mint, baby blue, seafoam, light teal etc.  It can also function as a neutral with a neutral based outfit like khaki or white or denim. They would also look great with brights like cobalt and kelly green. I wouldn't wear them with neon or mustard, but other than that pretty much anything goes! ;)

  5. I usually shy away from shoes with a strap around the ankle for fear of shortening my already-short legs, but the nude color really lengthens!  Doesn't hurt that you have long, slender-looking legs though :)

I think the shoes would pair beautifully with teal / jade / turquoise or cobalt.

  6. I love the matchy matchy 'cause it's subtle. But I think complementary colors would be great too! Or even a pattern with some coral in it.

  7. I love those wedges. I think the little pop of color is perfect! You could absolutely wear them with a complimentary color as well.

  8. The shoes look awesome!  I'd wear them all the ways you listed, lol.  Perhaps try to wear it with a bright orange or red so you've got a different shade of the same general colour?

  9. I've been obsessed with coral lately. I wear it with turquoise, yellow, purple, green. And I don't think this is matchy-matchy at all because of how you paired it with the dark skirt. You look awesome!

  10. Thanks, Katrina! :) Ooh, a coral cardigan- sounds lovely and makes me want to go shopping. I can never have enough cardigans! I just bought a pink cardigan with coral trim though so maybe that would work :)

  12. They look fab on you!  I think they'd love beautiful with mint, a pale aqua, or yellow too.

  13. Thanks, Vivienne! The blazer is suuuper old, like from 2005, and I can count on two hands how many times I've worn it. Finally realizing how versatile it is!

Orange sandals sound tricky. I have an orange belt and every time I wear it with black I just feel like I'm dressing up for halloween :)

  14. That does sound lovely. I will have to try it out! I don't think I have anything that color in my closet though, so maybe it's time to go shopping? :)

  16. LOL I would not call my legs long and slender looking, but thanks, SPG! I generally shy away from ankle straps as well but I loved the nude color so I thought it would be a good way to try out the trend... but it doesn't look like I'll be getting any more ankle strapped shoes anytime soon. Such a pain to take on and off, especially when carrying kids.

And thanks for the suggestions! A few people have suggested cobalt or greens/blues so I'll have to try that out :)

  17. Thanks, Lisa! I had a navy blue floral dress with some coral-y colors in it, but it just looked kind of "off" when I tried that. Maybe I need a bolder pattern?

  18. I like the way you think! I'll have to try that out next time. Thanks, Jyoti! :)

  22. I think those shoes were a great purchase! I almost think you COULD treat them as a neutral, because I feel like that coral color goes with almost anything...

  25. The color in the shoes would go incredibly well with a deep teal as well, if you want to go the contrasting route. I'd wear them with a pencil skirt too!
