Pregnancy tricks
With this last pregnancy, the majority of the weight was gained in my belly, so after I gave birth (almost two months ago), that's where the weight stayed. It's depressing to be asked "how far along are you?" when you are no longer pregnant, or having your mother-in-law jokingly ask if there's another baby in your belly a few days after delivery (jokingly for her, not so much for me).
I've been trying to disguise my extra pounds with tops that are loose around the mid-section, and I think I do a decent job, but measurements do not lie. When I ordered this Sugarlips skirt, I naively chose my regular size, and when it came in the mail, I could barely zip it up. SIGH. I'll spare you the image of me cutting off my circulation, because it was not pretty. So, I used the pregnancy rubber band trick, pulled out my bella band from my never-want-to-see-again maternity clothes box, and wore a longer shirt to hide the jury rigged waistband. No one will be any the wiser... except you guys, of course.

I think you look great, and the skirt is adorable!
ReplyDeleteDoes the bella band help compress down the extra weight?
ReplyDeleteThe upside of gaining weight in your middle is that you don't show it in your face. THAT you can't use tricks to hide.
I say all around win-win :) For what it's worth, you look great to me, Kimmie!
You look great! You and this girl are wearing the same skirt in totally different ways today!

You look great for just having a baby 2 months ago ... and don't listen to people who tell you differently!!
ReplyDeleteOh fun! Thanks for pointing me in her direction. I would have never thought to pair the skirt that way... But I am loving how it looks on her! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Bella band is more for keeping the skirt in place and to hide the unzipped waistband, just in case my shirt rides up. But it also has a spanx-like effect too (though not as right as spanx) in smoothing out the lines :)
ReplyDeleteAnd strategically applied bronzer and highlighter can slim a face, but my makeup skills are subpar at best, so that wouldn't work for me, lol!
Thanks, Tara!
ReplyDeleteLol, thanks Henry!
ReplyDeletemy belly chub is still hanging out and it is NOT wanted LOL!!! i love that skirt on you girl~
ReplyDeleteI think you look amazing, really. I did not look like you two months after Brigid was born, that's for sure :)
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt...I am such a sucker for anything with that color of yellow in it!
Only two months ago??? You look great! Cute outfit as well...:) I hope I can look that good after I have this baby.
ReplyDeleteI love this skirt! And I've never given birth to anything other than my blog, but let me tell you that bella band would be a very welcome addition to my current closet situation! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI think you look great. It's hard to get the baby weight off super quick like people expect. Don't stress. :)

You look adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd your hair looks amazing. ;)
Me too! A sucker for anything mustard yellow, that is. I've been on the hunt for a mustard yellow skirt for... Oh about a year now. But so far I've been unsuccessful, and I'm on the hunt for perfectly draping yellow fabric so I can make my own. This skirt temporarily fills the void... If only I could zip it all the way up, lol
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is sooo cute! One of the ladies from another blog I follow just posted a look with the very same skirt as well! I can't get enough of it!!
ReplyDeleteI still don't understand how you look so great! No one would have ever guessed you are using the bella band or the rubber band trick! :)

Well, the good news is that you look lovely, regardless. (:
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is really cute, and honestly I can't tell at all that you still have a tummy from your pregnancy. I can hardly tell that you've just had a baby!
ReplyDeleteOh, Kimmie, I think you look great!! My youngest is now two and I'm still battling the weight in my belly. I seemed to lose it so quickly with my first. Maybe it has something do with our stomach muscles being more tired the second time around. lol
ReplyDeleteYou'd never know you rigged that skirt. It's so cute!! And I bet it won't be long and you'll be able to wear it without rigging it. =)
You still look great though, sandy!
ReplyDeleteHaha! It does help smooth clothes down, maybe I should use it more often! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! And congrats on expecting!
ReplyDeleteThanks, CC :)
ReplyDeleteWas it Daydream Frenzy? Or someone else? I'd love to get more inspiration in styling the skirt! I can only think of wearing something black on top, but I'm pretty sure other ladies are way more creative than me :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the opposite! It took like 6 months to lose the weight from my first, but with the second it's been a lot easier... I guess every pregnancy is different!
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks audrey! I don't really have a belly anymore but I'm just thicker in the midsection now, and don't have a waist anymore. who am I kidding? I never really had a waist to begin with :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah!
ReplyDeleteamazing skirt .. totally adorable
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new arrival, I haven't been up to speed on your blog, so sorry for the late congrats! You look adorable! Can't tell you still have a belly. Asian moms and in-laws -- got love and hate them ;).
ReplyDeleteWow, I had no idea you were pregnant from looking at the pics! Love the colors on the skirt! Just stumbled across your blog... looking forward to seeing more of your posts!

Let's follow each other! :)
Oh I meant that I WAS pregnant, not anymore! Just had a baby in May. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely amazing and this skirt was an AWESOME pick! Not going to lie, I have been eyeing myself lately! I seriously, seriously cannot tell that anything is amiss AND you need to lighten up on yourself - it's only been two months and you are looking fantastic! You'll be back to your size in no time :)
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt and necklace are so lovely! and honestly, I'm amazed at how good you looking considering you just had a baby. Looking good!
ReplyDeleteUm, you just had a baby? You look A-MA-ZING! I heart the Bella Band and am a little tempted to wear it with pants that I've long since (ahem) outgrown (and have pathetically kept since pregnancy with Baby #1) :)
