Scallops

Top: Forever 21 (hand-me-down)
Belt: thrifted
Skirt: c/o Oasap
Sandals: Talbots Jillie

Thank you all for your suggestions last week on which pair of sandals to keep. I spent waaaay too much time debating over them, and even brought both pairs over to my mom's house and asked her for her opinion. I was complaining about how I only had enough of my budget left to be able to keep one pair, and you know what? My mom is awesome, and she offered to pay for the pair that I kept (the Jillie, since I didn't want to deal with Janey's buckle). Sweet!

And this skirt? I originally ordered the "azure" color, which is a really pretty minty blue. I was super excited and had already started planning outfits around it, but then I got an email saying that they were out of stock and I could either pick another color or change my order. I was really bummed, but I ended up picking this pinkish khaki color, and while it's really pretty, I still want the azure. Okay, I just checked the website and it's back in stock now. Hmm....

  1. Weird! I just DIYed a pair of scalloped shorts today and then this post pops up in my feed. xD I really like the minty blue colour too, and I'd probably get that one if it's not too much trouble. Good luck!

  2. Fun! I can't wait to see your shorts. Scallops are difficult to DIY! :)

I don't know if I want two of the same skirt (in two colors) but I really do like the length of it and the scallops. :) Too many skirts these days are just SO SHORT, or else a midi length, which I'm not quite sure I like.

  3. I love this skirt! the blue would be fun too but i think the neutral is a little more versatile (at least with my closet's boring colour palette)

  4. What? You think your closet's color palette is considered boring? You have way more color than I do! That must make mine... super boring. :(

  12. That was a hard choice on the sandals, but I love the ones you selected! That was so sweet of your mom to gift them to you, too! Aren't moms fabulous? That skirt is so sweet and I love the pleats + scallops thing it's got going on. You look great!

  13. Haha! So tempting, but I'll hold off for now. I was looking at my closet the other day and I have A LOT of skirts and pants, but very few tops, because I love buying skirts and pants, but for some reason, I hate shopping for tops. I really don't need another skirt!

  15. Yes! My mom doesn't buy me clothes very often (I can't remember the last time she bought me something... it's been years) so when she does I totally appreciate it. Even when we go shopping together, I'm always secretly hoping that she'll say, "oh, I got this!" but then again, she's retired and I have a steady income, so I really shouldn't expect her to pay for my clothes. haha :) But yes, moms are fabulous!

  16. I
love the scallops matching the frill in the top too! Great outfit. And how
awesome of your mom to buy the Jillie for you! My fav of the two :P. The azure
    is a special color….

  17. Haha, "special" as in... weird? That's how I read the "..." at the end of your comment :)

  18. They're actually not too bad!  You just need a sharp pair of scissors and some Fray Check.  Maybe I'll post a little tutorial. xD

I know what you mean about the skirt lengths-- it's crazy!  I have a few midis, but it's definitely not the best length for me as I'm so short.  I can't even imagine the issues taller girls have finding not so short skirts lol.  These days I have taken to wearing slightly shorter hemlines to work just because I don't have that many appropriate skirts!  Maybe not the most professional, but I try to make it work. xD

  19.  Sorry! I meant by the "...." is that since azure is a special/unique/awesome color, you might want to get it (or exchange this one) :D

  20. :) Words/punctuation can have such different meanings sometimes!

But yes, I do like that color! I was looking for a mint pleated/accordion skirt for a long time, but then I tried a few on and... pleated skirts do me no favors. So I really do like this one that's sort of a minty color and more flattering pleats. I've already worn the pink/khaki one so I can't exchange. If I'm still thinking about it in a month and it's still in stock, I'll have to get it! :)
