Everything: Target
I was never that big of a fan of maxi skirts, especially living in Seattle where half the year is rainy and maxi skirts that drag around in the mud? No thanks. But I changed my mind when I was pregnant and pants were the last thing I wanted to wear. I found this size XL maxi skirt in the 75% off clearance racks for only $4, and the length was just right, but the waist was a little loose. It was the softest and most comfortable thing in the world and I decided that I'd alter it after having the baby because I had no idea what size I'd be by then, and just wore it as it was while pregnant.
Since it was too big, I had to hold it up with a Bella band, and one day as I got up from my desk at work to use the restroom for the 200th time, my butt felt surprisingly breezy. I quickly realized to my horror that the waistband had totally slipped down and my entire bottom was exposed. OMG. I looked around and thankfully no one saw... well, I think no one saw.
Needless to say, I altered it to fit better after that.

Two comments. First...well, no words, just gasping at the thought of you with your butt hanging out at work hahaha.
ReplyDeleteSecond, "Everything: Target." You are a woman after my own heart.
What a nightmare situation with the waistband issue! I'm always worried about that when I wear skirts/dresses and leave the bathroom.
ReplyDeleteLove the maxi with the chambray shirt.
I love it with the chambray shirt and beautiful belt! And OMG about that story. Worst nightmare! Hope no one noticed!
ReplyDeleteHahah - this post made me laugh out loud. We've all had those moments. I'm sort of with you on the maxi here in San Francisco. So cold - what to wear it with (previously in Atlanta i wore with tanks & flip flops). I love how you've styled it here, and I've got all these pieces in my closet already - even better!
ReplyDeleteOh man I hate wardrobe malfunction. Hopefully no one notice. Like you I wasn't a maxi skirt fan until this summer. I can understand now why ladies love wearing maxi skirt. Have you consider slimming the waist?
ReplyDeletei always thought i didn't like maxi skirts, but i tried on that same skirt at target and fell in love. i didn't buy it that day, but when i went back for it a few days later, it was gone! i still haven't forgotten about it.
ReplyDeletealso, what a funny story! i seem to have those things happen all. the. time.
OMG!! Good thing noone saw.. well at least you think noone saw... lol!
ReplyDeleteEither way that outfit is adorable on you! I love the chambray with the maxi skirt. But I feel the same way, since Seattle rains half of the year.. what's the point of dragging the maxi around in the rain and mud. Gross. lol! But during the non-rainy days.. they're perfect! It's like leggings, all around comfort. ;)

OF COURSE. TARGET 4 LYFE!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad our restroom in the building has a full-length mirror so I can be sure to check if things are hanging out before I leave... but this morning I was fixing my pants in the office kitchen because I noticed the top of my underwear sticking out over my jeans (SORRY TMI?) and a few hours later when I went to the restroom one look in the mirror made me realize that I had accidentally tucked my shirt into my jeans as well, and it was NOT in a casual half-tuck sort of way. Good thing I was sitting most of the day :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa! The belt was the last one I found on clearance at Target and wear it almost every day, despite being a tad too small for me... it's usually worn on the last hole or 2nd to last hole, which looks kinda funny. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lauren! Yeah, it's mostly too cold or wet to wear maxi skirts, so I'm enjoying the cool (and dry) fall days to wear mine!
ReplyDeleteYes, I've since slimmed the waist :) Now it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteI HATE it when that happens! And it happens pretty often because I can never make up my mind, or I want to wait until I can get a better deal on it with a coupon/sale/clearance mark-down, and then they're gone.
ReplyDeleteI think mine might have been an online return, and they had a different style in store that was similar but a heavier material so it hung really nicely and would swish around when you walk. Was it that one?? Because I really wanted that one, but my cheapness made me choose this one.
I love that everything is Target! And I hope no one noticed too!
ReplyDeleteLove the cute maxi look. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yikes. That's all. Just yikes.
Doesnt look funny at all!

I love this! I can't believe you bought it for $4! What an awesome find! You're certainly not even close to an XL though. I'm glad you had it altered. :)

I thought I commented on this yesterday, but obviously not! In any case, OMG is right! Unexpected breezy feelings are never a good thing. And, I think this may be the chicest Tarjay ensemble I've seen. Have a great weekend, Kimmie!
