Peplum again

Top: The Limited
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Talbots

Attempt #2 wearing my peplum top. Even though it seems like I just wore the top four posts ago, in reality the two days were about a month apart. I slimmed the sides down some more and removed the back zipper (stretchy shirts do not need zippers, they just create weird back bulges), and now I like it a lot better. BUT, I would have liked the outfit a bit more if I had worn a necklace. I left the house with a brown skinny belt and felt that a necklace in addition to a belt would be too much. People do NOT dress up at my office, so I wanted to make the outfit as casual as possible with minimal accessories. When I got to work, I decided I hated the belt, and regretted not wearing a necklace. Too bad so sad.

Ok, and a disclaimer, these pictures were from a few weeks ago when it was still warm. It's cold now. Back in the day, I used to be able to post up my outfit pictures the day after I wore it, or even the day of, but now it takes me at least a week to get them onto my computer, and then another week or two to edit the pictures and write up a post. It doesn't take me that much time, it's just that I'd be lucky to turn on my laptop at home even once a week.

Just curious, for those of you that post outfit pictures, how soon are you able to get your pictures up? I already know you're going to make me feel bad.

  1. If I worked and was a mom, it would take me way longer to get my photos up. So don't beat yourself up! I'm just glad you post when you do cause I love all your outfits :)

  2. You shouldn't feel bad at all. I do mine at WORK! Shhhhh. That's the only reason I can post so often and so quickly. Not to mention the fact that I don't really edit my pictures other than to crop them. I don't put as much time into it as a lot of pople.

And plus, you look gorgeous, you're genuine, and your real life is more important anyway, so you have nothing at all to feel bad about. :)

  3. i love it! whatever you did to the shirt, it looks awesome and fits you like a glove. i agree a necklace would've looked good with this too but i've been apparently boycotting jewelry for the past year so what do i know.

  4. I'm with you - I can never get it up the next day anymore. With kids, time is precious and limited. I try to stay within a week of snapping the pics to get it up, but if it doesn't happen, oh well! And jewelry? I hardly know what that is anymore. Three necklaces with broken chains due to toddler yanks have forced me to nearly give up. But I don't think you needed it - I love this peplum top and it speaks for itself!

  5. Between work and kids it's hard to get blog posts up quickly! Pretty peplum, and I love the color of your skirt!

  9. I usually do it the day of. Big difference between me and you? You have 2 adorable children and a husband to be around. I'm home alone with just my dogs while my boyfriend is on an away rotation. Besides applications, I have nothing BUT time!

I am unsure what I'm going to do come winter time though. It will be dark when I leave for work and when I come back, so I have no idea what I'll do about pictures.

  10. Aw, thanks Merrick! I'm usually able to sit down and do blog-stuff after the kids are asleep, but lately I've just been going to bed at the same time as them because I'm so tired from work. Not tonight though! the kids are in bed and I'm staying up past 11pm! WOO HOO!

  11. Haha, shhh... I sometimes write up posts or comment on blogs at work :) I don't do a whole lot of editing to my pictures, but the last thing I'd want is someone to walk by my desk and see me looking at pictures OF MYSELF. THAT I TOOK.

Yes, real life is way more important than having a consistent blogging schedule :)

  12. Thanks, Elaine! Sometimes my boycotting of jewelery comes from me being so cheap. If I had $15, I'd rather spend it on clothes than a necklace... so, my jewelry collection is pretty sparse.

  13. Oh no! are the broken necklaces fixable? Thank goodness I haven't had any broken ones (yet! knock on wood...) but I always take off my necklaces as soon as I get home anyway. They seem to get in the way of baby-holding and little grabby hands.

Funny how sometimes people stress out about not getting up their photos up in time, or apologize profusely for not posting their outfits for a few days (Kendi comes to mind), and it's like, "really? no one is anxiously awaiting your outfit post every morning. I enjoy the posts, but take it easy! It really doesn't matter if we don't see what you wore yesterday." Blogs should be fun, not stressful!

  14. AUGUST? haha, okay now I don't feel so bad ;) kidding!

  15. I'm surprised you don't own one already! Peplum totally seems like something that would fit your style :)

  16. Ugh, I hate it when it's dark before and after work. It's already starting to get too dark after work to take pictures :( Although winter time is nice for me because there aren't as many tourists around and I can go take pictures in the park during lunch time (I work within walking distance to a lot of touristy places like the space needle and olympic sculpture park)

What are you applying for? I saw your tweet about rejection letters (they're no fun, I'm sorry!) and just curious. :)

  17. It's too dark here before work! I've started taking them after, but my clothes are usually wrinkly and my hair is messy. whoops. I wish I could take them during work, but my work is in the middle of no where, and we have a strict "no camera" rule on the grounds :S

I'm applying to med school. It's killing me slowly because it's all just throwing thousands of dollars at schools to be rejected :(

  18. Oh that stinks. All my pictures are after work so my clothes is always wrinkled and my hair flat :( maybe you can take indoor pics in the winter?
And good luck with med school applications!

  19. Oh my gosh, I love this outfit. It's so simple yet so chic. LOVE the purple skirt and it looks just perfect with the white peplum.

And to answer your question, I usually post the pictures a week or so after I take them.

  20. I used to try to post everyday, but I grew exhausted and I had way too many photos on my hard drive to sort through.  It now takes me anywhere from a couple of days to a week or so.  I also feel the same way, sometimes I wear something just a couple of posts in between, but in reality it was a few weeks. Fashion Blogger Problems!  I still love this peplum top and I am so glad you made it work.

  21. Wow, you removed the zipper? You're super-star! And glad you like it more now. That's too bad you feel uncomfortable wearing a belt + necklace at work. How casual is this place? Great photos taken at golden hour!!! And I don't take outfit photos, but if I did, I post them a week later b/c like you, I only edit photos once a week.

  22. Haha, not a superstar. It was actually pretty easy since it was an invisible zipper, I just used a seam ripper and took it out, and then sewed it up, and you can't even tell there was a zipper there! If it was an exposed zipper, that would have been harder.

Everyone at my work wears sneakers and jeans to work, it's pretty much a start-up environment, so it's really laid back in terms of what we wear. Thank goodness we don't have a dress code!

  23. Yeah, forcing myself to post often is just going to burn me out and take the fun out of blogging. And it's funny that we can paint a picture of ourselves on our blogs wearing certain clothing but keep other outfits undocumented and off the blog. Most days I'm just in jeans and a cardigan, but when I make an effort to dress up, I feel the need to "document" it for the blog as to not waste my efforts, so it just looks like I'm wearing skirts every single day, when in actually I am not :)

  24. Thanks, Yi-Chia! :)

Does your husband take your pictures for you? You always look like you have so much fun on your little photoshoots! :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes, my husband takes all my pictures for me! :)

  26. Haha, okay now I don't feel so bad ;) Does Martin take all your pictures for you? You're lucky he's such a good sport :)

    ReplyDelete
  27.  Well, thank goodness there is no dress code! Maybe with your nice clothes, you might change the culture there!
