October Budget Recap

  1. Fleece lined tights: $7 + tax = $8
  2. Dress from Goodwill: $8 - 20% discount + tax = $7
October total: $15*

Fleece lined tights are my absolute FAVORITE. They're so cozy and warm without adding any bulk, and I highly recommend them for the winter-time when it's too cold for normal tights. I already have two pairs in black that I wore all last winter, so when I found them in grey the other day, I had to pick them up. I get the Legale brand from Nordstrom Rack, and they have both plush lined leggings and tights, in black, grey, and brown for $7/pair.

The dress on the other hand, I totally bought it on a whim the other day when I stopped by Goodwill. I can't tell you how long I've been wanting to go to Goodwill to browse, but it's almost impossible with a baby and a toddler... mostly because I wouldn't want them touching everything so I would have to go on a day when I didn't have either kid. I jumped at the chance one day after I dropped my preschooler off and my husband had the baby, and found this dress. I didn't want to waste my rare alone/Goodwill time by going home empty handed, so I brought it home. Not entirely sure if I need it or not, but I have a week (now only a few days) left to decide if I want to return it.

In addition to these two things, I did buy a Kate Spade wallet (to replace my Coach wristlet... yes, I'm stuck in 2005) and a leather motorcycle jacket this month, but they are my anniversary (August) and birthday (November) presents from my husband, so they won't be going on the budget.

Linking up with Franishh for her Budgeting Bloggers.

*11/5 Update: I decided I didn't really need the dress. It's a bit too youthful with the bubble hem and short length. Plus, I wouldn't be able to wear it for awhile due to nursing/pumping, so I returned it over the weekend. Updated October total is $8

  1. I have never heard of fleece lined tights...but I also don't wear tights so that probably makes sense.

Can't wait to see your new jacket though. I've always wanted one but I'm pretty sure I'm not cool enough to pull it off.

  2. Pretty sure I'm not cool enough to pull one off, but I can always try, right? I really liked J's H&M one that she posted about awhile back (I think she ended up keeping the VS one, which I thought was ugly with the shiny gold hardware) so I started hunting one down. Found a pretty nice Michael by Michael Kors one for $199 at Nordstrom Rack, which isn't too bad for real leather and a fairly classic style (though, not sure if "motorcycle jacket" is considered classic).

I don't think I've ever seen you wear skirts or dresses. Like, duh, I know that you have to wear pants and closed toe shoes for work, but have you ever worn skirts/dresses on your blog?

  3. I LOVE fleece tights. I have them in black and brown and love them so much. :) Grey sounds great - Sears has them too although I'm not sure what the price is. :)

  4. I think motorcycle jacket is pretty classic, especially if you get a nice leather one without too many bells and whistles (ahem)

I've worn a dress twice on my blog, but only for parties/weddings. They're these ones:

I am actually doing a thing with no Nonsense in a few weeks where I'm going to wear a dress to work!...with tights. I know it sounds stupid to say I'm kind of scared about it, but I've never done tights! They always remind me of dance recitals.

  5. Oooo, fleece lined tights! I want! I have regular tights, and on a windy day like today I wouldn't dare wear just tights! Tks for the rec! And not that expensive, even better! And LOL on the 2005 Coach wristlet! So will we see the Kate Spade back? I think I saw the moto jacket...but I'm not sure :)

  6. I'm not going to open my presents until my birthday (in less than 2 weeks!!) so you probably won't see them til then. The wallet is cute but nothing too special :) as for the moto jacket, I bought it a few weeks ago and wanted to get the nordstrom sale one to compare but it's completely sold out everywhere. :(

  8. Kimmie, I've always wondered about fleece-lined tights and am glad to hear that you like them - they seem like would be so comfy, but I was worried about bulk. What a great dress find, too! And yeah for great new wallets that don't have to go on the budget!

  9. You look so good in dresses! Haha, you've NEVER worn tights with dresses before? Apart from dance recitals, lol? As long as you're not wearing bright white tights with a pink leotard, you should be fine. I'm still really scared of wearing tights that have patterns or color (other than black or grey) so I know the feeling, kind of. :)

  10. You totally should! They are perfect for Seattle winters :)

  11. They look almost exactly like normal opaque tights, just with a fuzzy lining, you'd barely notice any added bulk. I'm not sure how cold it gets in Arizona (that's where you are, right? or am I just imagining it?) but they are awesome when it's cold out :)

  12.  I am in Arizona - it will get down to freezing here and there are a couple months when I can get away with "real" winter clothing! To tell you the truth, when you're used to 100+ degrees, even temps in the 70's feel cold. I'll definitely have to try a pair out!

  13. Those fleece lined tights look amazing - it gets super cold here (Chicago) too, so I might have to check those out later this winter!

  14. Fleece lined tights might be a game changer. I am checking those out this afternoon!

  15. I was at Nordstrom Rack the other day and saw these tights. Wouldn't have given it a second look or thought if not for your review. I bought a pair for me to wear to an SF trip I had, and another pair to send to my sister in Sacramento. I absolutely love them now and really need to go back to look for great. Thanks for the awesome recommendation!
