Effort

Chambray shirt: Gap
Sweater: Target
Pants: Old Navy Rockstar

As I've decreased the frequency of outfit posts these past few months (or year), I've noticed an increase of blah outfits that I've been wearing off the blog. I'm not putting as much effort into getting dressed, mostly because it's hard to plan outfits or put a lot of time into my appearance these days. I'm not getting much sleep at night because my 7 month old WAS -past tense- sleeping through the night, but around 4 months old she started waking up multiple times. We thought it was just a growth spurt, but I'm pretty sure growth spurts don't last three months. Needless to say, groggy mornings are usually spent wrangling the kids, and there's little leftover time for myself.

I did notice, however, that I would spend a little more time and thought into getting dressed when I planned on taking outfit photos that particular day, and those days were becoming less and less frequent. After all, I wouldn't want a photo of unwashed hair and ugly clothes posted on the internet for everyone to see. From now on, I'm going to start treating everyday as "outfit photo day" and put more of an effort into how I present myself... just for going to work though. I'm still allowed to dress like a slob for running errands and hanging around the house.

I hope that will translate into slightly more frequent posts here on the blog. :)

  1. Really cute fall look Kimmie!  I love the dark colors together, and those boots are so gorgeous!  I feel your pain about timing and having a hard time wearing "nice" outfits if you're not planning to photograph them - I've definitely been lazy on the weekends (which is so silly because I have more time to take photos than during the week, I just never do it!)  Glad you're going to be posting more outfit pics though! :)

  2. I love this layered look Kimmie! I am in love with your boots! :) :) I understand how you feel. There are times where I'm like blah.. I don't want to 'dress' up today for work. I just want to throw on some jeans and a sweatshirt but then I realized I have to look somewhat presentable for others in my office. lol! You're doing great though with the kids and hardly no sleep. I already have no sleep and I only have a pup! -_-

  3. Oh wow, girl!  I can't imagine the frenzy of getting a family ready and myself.  I hope to enter that stage sometime soon!  So, we'll see how I do with it.

  4. Sometimes lazy days are worth it and everyone deserves it. Therefore, you should post whatever outfit makes you feel in tuned! This sweater is pefect for the burgundy trend, I love it!

  8. You look SO cute, I love this outfit. It's the perfect casual cute fall outfit. Love the color of your jeans and your striped sweater! Of course, I totally have a 'hanging around the house' outfit too. :)

  9. LOL I know! I have way more time on the weekends, but what is the point of getting dressed up just to go to Target or to the grocery store? :)

  10. Thanks, Sheila! Yeah, I could dress like a slob to work and no one would even bat an eye... but I just feel better about myself when I like my appearance, as shallow as that sounds. :)

  11. Well at least for my kids, I send them over to my in-laws house, so I don't have to really "get them ready" since they can just roll out of bed and head over in their pajamas, and grandma always has breakfast waiting. On days that my son has preschool though, I have to worry about what he eats for breakfast, and get him dressed so he looks presentable, which is a lot more work :( And to imagine I'll have to do that everyday once he starts going to real school until he turns 18! No breaks there. :(

  12. It's amazing what a good haircut can do. My regular stylist was booked so I went with a new gal, and OMG I LOVE MY NEW HAIR. I feel kind of bad because I did like my old stylist but my hair never wowed me. Anyway, after getting it cut, I went from hating my hair to actually liking it again, though my shamepuff is a little more difficult with this shorter 'do.

  13. I hope so too. She sleeps through the night every once in awhile, which freaks me out because I wake up at 4am wondering why she hasn't woken up yet and I have to creep up to her crib to make sure she's still breathing. But lately she's been teething (her first tooth broke the surface yesterday!) so she's been extra cranky and alert at night. :(

  14. I can totally picture your "hanging around the house" outfit is super cute with polka dot sweats and colorful t-shirts. :) Unlike my old college sweats (before the days of VS Pink sweats that were cute, these are the old school Hanes sweatpants kind) and old, stained unisex t-shirts :)

  16. I think it's okay to switch if you like the new one more - are they at the same salon? I recently switched from a girl at a bigger salon to a girl that has her own 1 chair salon. its a lot cheaper and I like my hair a lot more now.

  17. ;( Awww... poor baby and poor mommy. :) Teething is such a pain.

  18. Haha, actually I don't own polka dot sweats... I know I'm a bit shocked myself now that I'm thinking about it. I think a trip to Target this weekend will fix that! :)

  19. Yeah, they're at the same salon, but since I've only seen my old girl like.. 3 times and went a year between visits, I doubt she'd even remember me. I still felt really guilty when I walked past her chair and tried to avoid eye contact :)

  22. No need to apologize girl! You have an infant, another boy, and a full time job, and being a mom/wife too!!! You're doing great! I also hope to spend more time putting myself together, even if I don't take pics of myself hardly ever ;).
