November Budget Recap

  1. Rust colored jeans (Target) - Originally $23, on clearance for $7 - $5 gift card = $2
  2. Flannel shirt (Old Navy) - Originally $24, clearance for $18 - 40% off coupon + tax = $12
November total: $14

I resisted the temptation to shop Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, though I was SO CLOSE to placing a few online orders of things I didn't need. Thankfully I reminded myself I really don't need any clothes and that I really want to save my remaining budget ($70) for after-Christmas sales (which are waaaaay better than Black Friday anyway).

I had been looking for a pair of burgundy skinny jeans for awhile (and annoyed that the Old Navy Rockstar jeans had every color imaginable EXCEPT burgundy) and found this deep rust pair on the Target 70% off clearance that was not quite burgundy, but close enough. And the flannel shirt? A nursing mom can never have too many of those.

Also, I FINALLY got my Ebates check for the Frye boots I bought back in the summer (apparently it never made it to my account but I emailed the support team and they immediately took care of it - great customer service!) so I'm adding that amount to my budget ($50). If you don't use Ebates or any other cash back program, you're totally missing out! If you shop online frequently, the dollar here and there totally add up (I don't feel like I shop online too much, but I was able to get back almost $100 this year). You can sign up here.

Sooo... with the extra $50, I now have $120 left for the month of December, which is pretty sweet. I don't need anything but wouldn't mind a grey sweater or some new jeggings, so I'll be hunting down some good year-end sales :)

  1. Ooooh, you did really well, Kimmie!   I would love some burgundy jeans as well, but I'm not actively on the hunt for them.  I guess I should get on that, eh?  And good to know about flannel shirts and nursing moms.  That helps me justify the ridiculous amount of flannel shirts I've accrued for "someday."

  2. Great job Kimmie! I have to start budgeting better like you. Esp with the holidays coming up and buying gifts! That's going to be a lot of money. -_-

I love Ebates!! It was my friend during Black Friday online shopping! :)

  3. Great recap! I LOVE that you held out for after Christmas sales rather than splurge on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I totally agree with you! Great job on getting some ebates credit. I love using that service too and you are right, they have great customer service.

  4. Yeah, colored jeans are fun, but totally not a "wardrobe necessity," especially when I already have jeans in other colors. I wasn't really actively hunting for them, but they totally caught my attention when I was browsing the clearance racks! And nursing mom or not, you can never have too many flannel shirts :)

  6. LOL I have yet to start thinking about buying gifts :( That's the one part of the holidays that always stresses me out to no end, because I have in my mind the picture of a perfect gift, but of course, it's too expensive or I can't find it, and then two days before Christmas I end up running out and buying lame Christmas plates or something that was NOT what I had in mind. :(

  7. Well, a lot of Black Friday sales are focused on "gift giving" with electronics and toys, and I didn't really find any of the online clothing sales *that* great, so hopefully we'll be able to find some good deals during after-Christmas sales!

And yes, I've contacted Ebates customer service about missing cash back a few times and each time they have been super quick and helpful. Love them!

  8. You were so good even over Black Friday!  I was hoping there wouldn't be that many good sales either, but I definitely bought a few things over Thanksgiving weekend.  I am trying to hold out in December though because I totally agree - after Christmas sales are great too! :)

  9. You have major kudos from me for avoiding the Cyber Monday/Black Friday sales. I found a few things I couldn't turn down, but focused on buying nothing but classics, no trendy items.

  10. Wow! Great job! I can't believe you got those pants for $2! I really need to learn your tricks :) I also resisted the urge to shop Black Friday by escaping to Vancouver!

  11. What! $2 pants?! You are amazing!

  12. How incredible are those Target skinnies? I got the same pair in red over the summer (for reg price... I was too antsy to wait it out for a sale) and they are awesome! I love that they haven't stretched out yet :)

  13. Yes they are awesome! They were actually a size too small for me (that's what happens when I am shopping in the clearance racks!) but after wearing them for a few days they stretched out perfectly :)

  14. Well, technically $7 pants, but I used a $5 gift card that I got from buying diapers :)

  15. Ahh I don't know if escaping to Vancouver would've worked for me because every time we drive up north, I am so tempted to stop by the Premium outlets and also the Lululemon outlet up in Burlington.  :) Plus, Vancouver shopping = Zara!

  16. I am so envious of your wardrobe... well, at least your newer purchases that you have in your monthly updates :) All the things that you've bought recently are just awesome. A few good quality classics are always waaaay better than 20 trendy items that only last a few wears, and totally worth it as well! :)

  17. I'm so excited for the after-christmas and new years sales, those are always the best! The items you got over Thanksgiving weekend are awesome.. I mean, hello, fox and sheep sweaters! :)
