Hanger Loop

Dress: Forever 21
Belt: Romy
Cardigan: Target
Boots: Frye Caroline Campus

When I pulled this dress out of my closet the other day, I thought to myself, "Hmm, maybe I should cut off these stupid hanger loop things because they're pretty annoying and useless." But since I didn't have my seam ripper close by, I decided I'd save the task for another day and just tucked the straps in. I guess I could have just used scissors but if I was going to remove the loops, I wanted to do it cleanly.

I've since regretted the decision, as every time I glanced in the mirror that day, a pesky hanger loop would have found its way out. No matter how many times I tucked it back in, the persistent little loop would have freed itself from under my dress and cardigan. And of course, these photos were hurriedly snapped in the morning and looked fine on the tiny camera screen, but when I opened them up on my computer later that evening? HANGER LOOP, STARING AT ME.

  1. I want to leap through the screen and high-five you for posting a picture of you with a hanger loop because that is hilarious and awesome. Then, before I leap back out, I'm going to steal your boots.

  2. haha.. I hate those pesky hanger loops too! They are annoying and I don't ever use them. I know the point of why they're there but it's pointless... so everytime I buy something with them, I cut them off right away too. There were times I would tuck them in but they never work! Just like you, they always seem to suddenly appear. Smh.. -_-

Cute outfit btw - I like your cardigan and belt!

  4. First off, I was wondering if that was a necklace and when you said it was a hanger loop, I just about fell off my hair! I love that you posted it nonetheless too!!!! Love how you wore the white lace for winter and love the plum cardi with statement belt!

  5. I love this outfit! And hanger loops are such a pain - although occasionally necessary. I have had the best luck with wrapping them around my bra strap a couple of times. Not perfect, but it usually keeps those pesky little boogers out of sight. :)

  6. Are those your new boots?! They look amazing on you and your tiny legs.

I always just snip them with scissors...I didn't even know that using a thread cutter thing is the way you are supposed to do it!

  10. ark, those annoying little strings. I cut them off as soon as I can. They're annoying little buggers until you need them to hang on your hanger. haha!
I tried on the same cardigan at Target the other day. I went for the teal one but now I'm also regretting not getting the magenta one too.

  12. Hanger loops!  I know what you mean.  I FINALLY cut them off three shirts a few days ago, after battling with them for like what, almost a year?  Somehow I feel more embarrassed when hanger loops are showing than when my bra strap is peeking out.

I didn't even notice the hanger loop until I looked for it.  They drive me nuts too!  I really like how you belted this outfit - it looks great!

  16. Haha, I tried photoshopping it out, but it looked so bad, so I just decided to post the pics as is. :( Just keeping it real, haha!

  17. I like to keep the hanger loops on shirts that have wide necklines, and would otherwise slide off the hanger. But MOST of them are pointless and just get in the way!

  18. I totally laughed out loud. I always cut off those stupid things. They agitate me. Have you gotten the clothes that have one that's strung from one side to the other? I swear I nearly choke myself to death every time I put on a shirt with those kinds of loops. Who knew getting dressed was so dangerous?

  19.  Know that about you -- keepin it real!

  20. I can totally relate to your hanger loop woes. I walked around all day (on Monday, too!) with the hanger loops from both sides of my sweaters hanging out. I just gave up and decided to rock them. With the Forever21 screen print on them and everything... hahaha

  21. Thanks, Sheila! Once in awhile, the loops are useful, like for shirts with a wide or boat neck, but most of the time they're just a pain in the butt.

  22. yes! new boots :)

I prefer to snip the threads that sew on the loops instead of just cutting off the loops, because when you cut them off, it still leaves the small piece that's sewed in place (DOES THIS MAKE SENSE AT ALL?) and that always irritates my shoulders. Sensitive shoulders, I have them.

  23. Maybe it's their new way of advertising, by forcing their unsuspecting shoppers to constantly display their brand on their shoulders. Hmmmm....

  24. Hahah! I know exactly what you're talking about! I don't think I've bought anything with those recently, but I feel like I'm constantly battling those when I try on stuff at Target.

  25. Thanks, Alice! It's annoying when I take pictures and don't catch the little things like the loops, because it's too late to re-take by the time I notice, and I don't want to throw away a day's outfit pictures just because of the little exposed loop! Oh well :)

  26. Hahah, well SOME girls expose their bra straps on purpose, or at least wear bras that don't mind being exposed. Whereas I don't think anyone gets dressed with the intention of showing their hanger loops. Unless maybe it's a growing fad that I'm not aware of :(

  27. Oooh, I wish we had the teal one in our store. I got the cardigan in grey and this color (supposed to be "red" but yeah, looks magenta to me) and I'm still debating if I should keep the grey or not.

  31. I loved this post! Those darn hanger loops get me all the time. I just (as in three days ago!) cut mine off of a cardigan of mine after my sister kept bugging me about it. :)

And I really love that lace dress. And your sweater. The colors of your outfit are just lovely!

  32. Well there is good news ladies. There is a product that has been on the market since 2008. It is called "Tukits-The Cure For The Hanger Loop Hang". Tukits are basically a small decorative weight that clips on the hanger loop and holds it inside your dress or garment. Those pesky hanger loops are so annoying. We are glad that we could develop a product to help with this issue. Visit our website at www.tukits.com! Let me know if you have any questions....Hope At Last!!! :-)
