Booties

Sweater: Old Navy
Jeans: Forever 21
Booties: Target
Necklace: Forever 21

I shied away from booties for a long time because they aren't the most flattering footwear of choice, but I'm starting to warm up to them. It doesn't hurt that this Target pair is SUPER comfortable, and they have been a great alternative to knee high boots when it's too cold for flats. I had seen a lot of girls have their pant hems rolled up when wearing booties, so I tried that but it turned out to be pretty leg-shortening. Pairing that with a longer baggy sweater was probably not a good choice either, but I guess sometimes I just don't care that I look stumpy.

Okay, can I just tell you how much I hate the word "bootie"? They're not exactly short boots, so is there any other fashion term that I can use to describe them? When they were still available on the Target website they were listed as "shooties" which is an even MORE ridiculous word than "booties" if you ask me.

ETA: Okay, they are ANKLE BOOTS. Why did I totally forget that? Thanks to reader meme for pointing that out and making me feel pretty smart :)

  1. Nope. They are booties. BOOTIES, GIRL. And you definitely have the legs for them. I saw those booties at Target too and just thought it was too late in the season for them. Which is silly, because you'll probably be able to wear them through April. I like them!

  2. Wow I feel really stupid right now because, DUH, ankle boots :) thanks!!!!

  3. Leg-shortening? When I saw that first picture, the first thing I thought was how long your legs looked!

(Also I feel the same way about the word "bootie." Ugh.)

  4. I HAVE THAT SWEATER in three colors. Soooo comfy.

Also, "shooties" simultaneously makes me laugh and gag. Gross. Ridiculous.

Annnd those booties/ankle boots (can I just say footwear?) are so cute! I'm bummed I missed out on them! Curse my size 10 feet...had I worn a 5.5, I would have been in luck. There were like 30 pairs of them left.

  5. OMG. PLEASE TELL ME "SHOOTIE" IS NOT A REAL WORLD

a shoe bootie? I will refer to these as shatties from now on. because if we're going to make up words, they might as well be funny too.

  6. Haha...i feel the same way about 'shooties.' ridiculous. whatever happened to plain old 'ankle boots'? Guess it's in the same place where 'burgundy' currently resides since 'oxblood' came onto the scene. *eyeroll*

  7. I was going to suggest "shaboots" but then Fran's suggestion caught my eye... I like "shatties" although that makes me think "I just shat my pants". If you don't mind that thought accompanying your footwear, than shatties they are!

  8. hahaha! I blogged about shooties earlier this month. But I had heard that shooties were the booties with an open toe, which completely baffle me and I can't wrap my brain around. I would also say you should go with ankle boots even though I have no problem with the word booties, only "shooties."

  9. I actually like this look on you and you dont look stumpy at all :) Went through the comments on this post and they cracked me up with all the new words they tried to come up with!!

  10. Not stumpy at all - totally the opposite! I don't mind booties but shooties? I am confused why there's even a new name for them.

  11. actually, your legs look plenty long in the picture. i didn't realize you were so teeny until today, either!

  12. I wonder how Target came up with the SHOOTIE. Now to think of it, "shoe." I'm glad I have someone to relate to on rolling up jeans when wearing "booties." I purchased a gray pair from Old Navy (I wanna say) November 2011, but only got around to wearing them once, maybe twice and a few times around the house. I should definitely take some pointers for you and bring them out for another spin.

  13. HAHHAHA SHABOOTS AND SHATTIES. You guys are hilarious.

  14. I HOPE IT IS NOT A REAL WORD.

I'D RATHER CALL THEM CAMEL BOOTY HEALS.

Shattie would refer to a shoe hat, DUH. I just googled shoe hat and this contraption is going to give me nightmares: http://www.shopcurious.com/Images/Editor/Lady%20Gaga%20shoe%20hat.jpg

  15. You should totally wear them! As long as they are comfortable :) I felt like my legs were super short wearing them but now looking at the pictures they looked okay.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Haha when I googled "shootie" it means a combination between a boot and a shoe... but aren't all boots technically shoes?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Haha! I know, I was at my in-laws house when I was reading them and trying so hard not to burst out laughing :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh yes! I remember that post. Yeah, the open toed boots just make zero sense at all. And SHOOTIES is such a strange word.

    ReplyDelete
  19. yeah, the term "ankle boots" totally slipped my mind when I wrote my post. and I'm also eyerolling about the oxblood/burgundy. AND SO GLAD YOU CAN COMMENT AGAIN. YAY NEW LAPTOP!!! :)

  20. What colors do you have it in? I saw it hanging in the fitting room in December and I really wanted to buy it but it was FULL PRICE so I waited a few weeks and they only brought down the price a little bit each time ($27 instead of like $30, and then like $24) which was ridiculous because the other scoopneck sweaters were all marked down to $10 ages ago. Thankfully they still had a few left when I dropped in two weeks ago, though my size was sold out already, I just got a size up for a more oversized look :) I really wanted the orange one too, but they didn't have any left :(

  21. Legs for miles! I'm 5'8" in heels!

    :)

  22. If I could wear boots year round, I totally would. Thought it's probably kind of sweaty and weird to wear knee high boots in the middle of the summer... though I could be "those girls" with the denim cut-off shorts and cowboy boots.... hmmmmm. But yeah, I don't care about seasons, I JUST WANT THE CLEARANCE PRICE.

  23. i dont think your legs look stumpy at all! actually i have done the same - cuffed my jeans while wearing my steve madden troopa boots (my legs are actually stumpy) and i find cuffng the pants and the boots help alleviate stumpiness. here are said boots. http://pinterest.com/pin/241575967483718911/

  24. Yea, shooties is a more ridiculous word. I always call them booties. But ankle boots sounds more precise :D! I think you're long slender legs couldn't be shortenened unless you cut them off ;). Super cute! Not stumpy!

Unfortunately, I don't have much time to comment often though I promise I will stop by more often. Today I am loving the Loose Deep Blue Sweater & the Pretty Statement Necklace.

I'd love for you to stop by my blog and check out my style. Also, I run a Weekly Feature every Sunday where O PROUDILY FEATURE OTHER STYLISH BLOGGERS and here is a little something for you:

  26. I have it in light blue, lavender, and oatmeal. LOVE IT. It was on sale after Christmas for like $16ish...and I went for it because I had been dying for some chunkier knit sweaters. I really wanted the navy one like you had but they only had XXL and XS left...boooo.

  27. I really love your booties! and I agree.. sometimes i don't care if i look stumpy or not. especially if it's cold out and i just wanna wear stuff to stay super cozy.

  28. I wore mine without washing and it was kind of itchy. Did you have that problem as well? Maybe I just need to wear an extra layer underneath :( Or hopefully it was just because it was new and it will become less itchy after washing, I DUNNO.

    Sweater twins!

  29. I love the Steve Madden troopas, but aren't they a little tall for cuffing? I mean, if you cuff them on top of the boot, wouldn't the cuff be like, right under the knee or mid-calf? I NEED TO SEE PICTURES.

  30. Haha, "long slender legs" riiight. I can't believe I forgot they were called ankle boots. Such a better term than "booties" or "shooties" lol.

  31. Hi Ada! Congrats on your new baby and thank you so much for featuring me for the Week's Best Looks. I'm so flattered! :)

  32. Haha, I know! I just don't want any skin exposed on my feet since they get cold really easily. My comfort is more important! :)

  33. hahaha "shootie" would sound and look totally ridiculous on their website! Too funny! I think they look great on you though. And yeah I never liked to use the term 'booties' either but now that you've mentioned it, it's better to say 'ankle boots' lol!

  39. Shooties? What does that even mean haha. I don't mind the word booties, but shooties is a little weird ;) Love the sweater and the "shooties" do look super comfortable! I have a similar pair in black that I wear all the time just because they are so comfortable!
