- Old Navy sweater: Originally $30, clearance for $12 + tax = $13 but used rewards so $0
- The Limited boucle mini skirt: Originally $60, clearance for $7 + tax = $8
I had been eying this Old Navy sweater (worn in my last post) since December, but it took FOREVER for them to finally clearance it down to a price I was willing to pay. To be honest, $12 was still more than I wanted to pay (the other scoop neck sweaters I liked were all marked down to $10 each months ago! Winter stuff should be dirt cheap right now!) but I had some rewards to use up, so I bought it anyway. I have about $50 in credit card rewards saved up from the last year that are almost expiring soon and I had originally wanted to save them and go to the outlets so I could spend it at my favorite store, the Banana Republic Factory Store, but I have not been able to find time to go outlet shopping. I mean, I barely have time to go to the mall, let alone drive 45 minutes to the outlets, so I might as well just use the rewards on stuff at Old Navy.
As for the boucle skirt, I was up feeding my daughter at 4am and scrolling through my emails when I saw that The Limited had free shipping on all orders for President's Day, so I ended up browsing the site, and despite being half-asleep, I found this skirt in the clearance section for only $7 and in my size. With my credit card number memorized, I quickly purchased it and went back to bed, only to wake up in the morning with only a vague recollection of actually buying it. At least it was cute when it arrived, but still not 100% sure if I'll be keeping it or not, since it wasn't really a well thought out purchase, and I'm not sure what to pair it with.
Oh, and my husband gave me a Nordstrom gift card for Valentine's day because I kept complaining that I needed a new bra so he told me I could go buy one myself. But then I felt bad that I didn't get him anything, so I ended up spending the remaining gift card amount (after my new bra, which is not pictured, because really? no need for pictures) on a nice shirt and some other stuff for him. I'M SO SELFLESS.
Linking up with Franish's February Budgeting Bloggers!

You have your CC # memorized?! Dang! Props girl! I love paying with PayPal. The skirt is cute! Great for a winter party or a spring one ;). As for the GC, you ARE selfless! Though, if I needed a bra, my hubs would just tell me to put in on the CC. No GC or guilt needed ;).
ReplyDeleteI finally memorized my CC#, but I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing! I like the skirt you bought, and it seems like a great deal, if you'll wear it!
ReplyDeleteWOAH. WE WERE COMMENTING ON EACH OTHERS BLOGS AT THE SAME TIME. :)
ReplyDeleteIt seems like every time I FINALLY memorize my cc number, they send a new one in the mail with a brand new number and it makes me SO MAD. :(
Haha, I was planning on just going out and buying one myself, but he went out and bought me a gift card anyway so that's why I felt bad. He really didn't need to do that! :)
ReplyDeleteWHOA that is a lot of digits to memorize!! I think I only have the expiry date memorized lol. Combined with my insomnia and bag habits of online shopping while half awake, I don't think memorizing my CC# is going to be a very wallet-friendly thing. haha
ReplyDeleteThe skirt is super cute and I can see you wearing it in the spring! Good to layer with all your button downs and cardigans. The texture looks interesting too.
It might be because I can finally pause, breathe, and read blogs! I've been such a bad blogger lately thanks to work and blog projects.
ReplyDeleteMy credit card number never changes...just the security code and the date. And now I'm thinking that's probably a big security problem?
It's probably a bad sign that I have mine memorized then :( I can never remember the 3 or 4 digit security code though, so I always have to take my card out, or pray that the numbers I enter are correct and they don't cancel my order. What I hate most are the sites that let you use Paypal because, DANGER DANGER right there.
ReplyDeleteFor some of my cards they send me new numbers all the time, but others they just change the expiration/security numbers. I hope it's not a security problem!
ReplyDeletehaha. I have my debit card memorized. I haven't tried to memorize my CC, bc that would definitely not be good. ;) I think you should call Gap CS and try to find that striped/navy dress you liked so much. My sister picked one up a few weeks ago for around $20 in store. I decided not to buy one after all since they were out of my size.
ReplyDeleteHmm.. tempting, but I really don't need it, and i don't want to go through all that trouble to purchase something when I haven't seen it in person or tried it on.
ReplyDeleteI bought a Groupon for a photo session at the mall's photography studio that expires in May so at least I know I'll be going to the mall one time in the next few months! LOL
haha.. I used to memorize my AMEX card until I had to update to a new number.. then Hubs found out and was giving me that look like omg... :P
ReplyDeleteI still have rewards to use up for Banana.. but I have yet to find anything I want... I keep looking out for those additional 30% off codes. lol!

a $30 Target giftcard!!
$8?!?!!?!?!?! WHAT. *bows down*
ReplyDeleteI'm in "memorized credit card digits" club with you.
That skirt is cute for $8! Go you for being able to type out your credit card number at 4am! (I'm actually a bit glad I can't remember mine, but Amazon is DANGEROUS.) And I can't believe I have to update my budget already. February went by so quickly!
ReplyDeleteYes! February has flown by, I still felt like I got a lot of new things but those were just from January! I don't know if I should be praised for being able to remember my credit card number at 4am. That just means I buy too much stuff online :(
ReplyDeleteIt's so convenient to have my CC number memorized! It's easy to remember because I say the numbers in a certain pattern (like a song almost?) but then when it comes to the 3 or 4 digit security code, I can never remember that. Maybe that's why it's called a SECURITY CODE :)
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, only spending $8 this month means I'll probably go crazy with spending next month.
Hahah yeah I haven't really seen anything that I want to spend my rewards on, because I want it to be something special, you know? Can't just buy any old thing since I worked so hard to earn them (aka spent a lot of money) haha!
ReplyDeleteBut at least I know I can always just buy something at Old Navy on my way home if my rewards are going to expire, and then return the item to get the points back into my account and the rewards re-issued :)
oh wait, I thought your MONTHLY budget was $600? Where are all of your full priced J. Crew purchases?
ReplyDeleteha. kkiiiidddding. I think the skirt will be cute. pair it with your fav chambray shirt! or...a sequin tank top ;) AND NEON HEELS.
LOL yes, I need to include all my J.crew purchases. DO YOU J.CREW? sheesh.
ReplyDeleteNeon heels are all the rage now, right? I must go out and buy 20 pairs so I can pair my neon yellow heels with neon yellow pants and a neon yellow necklace. THAT'S FASHUN.
I love both of these! I have a weak spot for old navy sweaters - and that sequined skirt?!!! <3
ReplyDeleteUgh, I used to have my credit card number memorized, and then it expired and I had to get a new one that is not yet memorized. It has saved me from making impulse online purchases, though, since I somehow think it's too much work to get up, find my wallet, and get out my credit card, haha. LAZY.
ReplyDeleteit's actually a boucle material, not sequins! I don't know if I'd be able to justify buying a sequin skirt since I would have nowhere to wear it to. A boucle skirt is far more versatile :) And yes! Old Navy sweaters are awesome.
ReplyDeletehaha! YES. The act of getting out of my chair to find my wallet and taking my credit card often deters me from making impulse purchases, so it's not very wise of me to have my number memorized :)
ReplyDeleteWow great deals this month! I totally like the boucle skirt - I bet you can find a lot to wear with it. :)

That skirt is such a good buy. My worry is that the piece won't fit me and I won't be able to return it.
ReplyDeleteLove the mini skirt you got! And haha... why wouldn't you picture your new bra ;) ;) ;) How nice that you spent the rest on your husband!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Morgan! I think the boucle skirt looks really cute on the stock picture, and in person it fits well, but the boucle kind of reminds me of a shag carpet, because the texture is super bumpy. I know it was super cheap, but after trying it on this weekend with all my other clothes, I think I'm still going to return it :(
ReplyDeleteI'm always wary of things that are final sale and can't be returned, and try to avoid buying final sale items on the internet unless I've tried on the item in store and know exactly how it fits. There have been way too many times where something will look really cute online but when I get it in person it fits or looks completely differently than how I expected it to. Thankfully this skirt can still be returned! :)
ReplyDeleteThere have been so many times where I will add a bunch of things into my online shopping cart but then I sit on it for awhile and realize I really don't need it. And especially for J.Crew factory, I know that if it doesn't work out, I have to drive all the way out to the outlets to return it which would be a big pain. Good luck with your spending freeze!
ReplyDeleteAnd Gap's blazers lately have been super cute. I'm hoping to pick one up one of these days!
Hahaha, because it's a boring beige bra! Nothing cute or stylish about it ;)
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is amazing - I can't wait to see you style it! Please keep it :)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is so cute, and what an amazing find (especially in a sleep fog, haha) :) So impressed with your $8 February, nice job!!! And totally selfless to spend the rest of your GC on your husband, I don't know if I'd have been able to do that at Nordstrom! ;)
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I could never limit myself to such a small budget! I love both of your new items!
