Lightening up

I had been looking for a white blazer for a loooong time (I pretty much say that about everything), and a few years back when we went on vacation, my husband and I made the decision to have all our vacation clothing purchases be budget-exempt, so I bought this blazer. I thought I loved it at the time, but then after coming home, decided that it wasn't really what I was looking for (I didn't quite like the square-ish shape, sateen material, or double back vents). But if I returned it, I'd get nothing back into my budget since it was a vacation purchase, so I decided to keep it just because I was greedy.

I've only worn it a handful of times in the last three years, and yet I've still been itching to buy a more casual white blazer (in maybe a ponte material, with a single back vent). I've told myself though, that I need to wear this one more just to prove that my closet needs two separate white blazers, so I've been trying to wear this more frequently. So far, I love that it instantly lightens up an outfit, and it feels so springy and perfect for those in-between weather days where it's not quite warm but not quite cold either.

I still haven't found the perfect replacement blazer yet, but here are a few cute options if you are looking for a white blazer:

Tee: Gap Outlet / Blazer: Banana Republic (this year's version) / Jeans: AG / Boots: Target / Necklace: Target

  4. I don't think this looks boxy at all; it's really very flattering. And perfect for spring!

I think this blazer looks great on you and does not look squarish at all. I say wear this a couple more times and if you are not in love with it then sell it and continue your search. Good luck!

  6. The white vacation blazer looks perfect for this inbetween weather we're having. If you don't love it, are you willing to sell it and get a replacement with hour budget money or this amazing sounding vacation clothing fund?

  7. I have three white blazers. Two is absolutely justifiable. (I wear all three, by the way.) And I'm with Bri; I've been REALLY loving your recent outfits. (That's not to say I don't love what you always wear!)

  8. I love it, all of it! The white blazer is perfect and the denim wash really makes gives this look a very laid back feel.

    Thanks for sharing, Kimmie.

  9. I've been wanting a white blazer for years as well, but it's hard to justify getting one when I already have a white safari jacket. I love the way you styled this one, it really looks great on you!

  10. I'm going to join everyone else here and say that I really like that blazer on you! So even if you do find another one you should keep that one! I love this look, it's perfectly classic.

  11. I love a white blazer. It's fresh and crisp for spring and it goes with everything. Plus, it's so versatile you can dress it up with a skirt and heels or pair it down with denim and flats. A definite keeper!!

  13. I love that you have been trying to wear this blazer more often - I really like how it looks on you, even if you're not the biggest fan :) I've always questioned if I should get a white blazer, but I am so afraid I'll ruin it by spilling on it or something, haha. So...I don't have one. I do really want a nude or blush colored blazer, though...keeping my eyes peeled!

  14. It IS pretty nice, but it has that weird sateen finish which feels super business-y, and I feel strange wearing it with casual outfits.

  15. Thanks, Alice! I will definitely try to wear this more frequently to determine if I should keep or give it away :)

  16. I had thought about that, but I spent like $70 on it, which I guess is normal for blazers, but it was totally a splurge and feels really super expensive. If I were to try to sell it, I think the most I could get back would be like, $15 or so. I just hate the feeling of getting rid of something expensive, so I'll hold onto it for at least another while and try to get the most wear out of it as I can!

  17. Haha, three?! You have the best blazer collection! and... to be honest, I have two white blazers. My other one is a 3/4 sleeve white denim one from Old Navy but I haven't worn it in ages and it's not the cutest.

  18. Yeah, I can't justify buying another one when this one is "good enough" but I'll happily continue to browse and hope that I come across a perfect white blazer someday!

  19. Yes! I never realized how versatile a white blazer was. I'll definitely keep it on rotation this spring!

  20. Haha, I totally did! I spent like $200! :)

  21. You should get white! I mean, a nude or blush colored one would get dirty just as easily, right? And I think white is more versatile than a nude/blush and looks crisper/cleaner. I had a pale blush pink blazer (a hand me down) that I had for awhile, and I could never think of anything to pair with it, so I gave it away without ever wearing it. White can go with anything! Audrey (Putting Me Together) totally convinced me :)

  22. Now that I think about it, you're totally right. White probably is much more versatile than nude or blush...plus, since I'm SO pasty, I probably would look sick in a nude or blush blazer, haha. White is a great idea. Heading over to see all the ways Audrey has worn hers now...
